The successful candidate will work closely with enterprise IT leadership, program managers, section chiefs, mission partners, developers, network operations teams, cybersecurity personnel, and system owners to align technical delivery with long-term mission objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Enterprise Architecture, Engineering, and Technical Integration

- Ensure systems, networks, applications, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise services comply with approved architecture principles, cybersecurity requirements, interoperability needs, and engineering standards.

- Translate emerging science and engineering mission requirements and operational needs into viable, secure, scalable, and sustainable technical solutions.

- Lead enterprise-level configuration control activities, including management of architectural baselines, technical dependencies, and change-control processes.

- Serve as the final technical authority for complex engineering decisions, technical disputes, integration challenges, and multi-disciplinary design tradeoffs.

- Identify, assess, track, and mitigate enterprise technical risks, vulnerabilities, dependencies, capacity constraints, and architectural single points of failure.

- Provide technical direction to improve system resiliency, availability, maintainability, performance, and lifecycle sustainability.

Strategic Engineering Operations and Mission Integration

- Provide enterprise leadership, section chiefs, program managers, and mission partners with strategic technical advice, architectural analysis, technology forecasting, and capacity-planning recommendations.

- Deliver executive-level technical briefings, architectural health assessments, readiness analyses, and data-driven risk reports.

- Develop clear decision-quality products that communicate technical status, risks, options, dependencies, and recommended courses of action to senior stakeholders.

- Partner with development teams, network operations, cybersecurity organizations, cloud engineers, system owners, and mission stakeholders to ensure seamless enterprise integration.

- Guide engineering teams in applying agile methods and enterprise tools to deliver architectural changes securely, efficiently, and with minimal operational friction.

- Monitor the technical health of the enterprise portfolio and recommend investments, modernization priorities, and corrective actions.

- Promote a culture of disciplined engineering, technical rigor, innovation, documentation, and continuous improvement.

- Support planning, prioritization, and sequencing of enterprise engineering initiatives to balance mission needs, technical debt, cybersecurity requirements, resources, and operational constraints.
