Senior Building Engineer

Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a Senior Building Engineer to join our growing team in the Richmond, VA office. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to work with outstanding professionals on a variety of building design projects. The Senior Building Engineer will be responsible for:

• Performing structural analysis and design for commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings
• Preparing construction documents and specifications
• Coordinating with clients, architects, and contractors
• Mentoring junior engineers and providing technical leadership
• Staying current with building codes and design standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in building design and structural engineering
• Strong knowledge of building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, etc.)
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering
• Experience with sustainable design and LEED certification
• Knowledge of advanced structural systems and materials
• Project management experience
