Java Developer

Our client, a commerce consultancy located in Boca Raton, FL, is looking to hire a hands-on Senior Java Software Engineer for a 6-month contract opportunity. The consultant will be supporting an enterprise B2B commerce replatforming program, moving from SAP Commerce (Hybris) to a composable stack on commercetools and Google Cloud.

The consultant will build and own custom backend microservices and enterprise integrations into production. This is a high-visibility, pure backend engineering role with a fixed timeline and direct client interaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build custom Java/Spring Boot microservices from scratch; deploy containerized services on Google Cloud Run.
• Extend commercetools using API Extensions and Subscriptions in Java to model B2B account structures, contract pricing, and catalog entitlements.
• Build integration services connecting product data (Salsify), tax systems (Vertex), and core ERP workflows via the client's SAP REST interfaces.
• Own services end-to-end, write JUnit tests, maintain GitLab CI pipelines, and instrument production observability using Dynatrace and Google Cloud Logging.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years' experience building production backend systems with Java, Spring Boot, and robust RESTful API designs.
• Experience working with microservices from scratch, managing data ownership, and implementing synchronous vs. event-driven messaging.
• Experience with commercetools (or another headless/composable platform)
• Deep experience building resilient enterprise integrations (ERP, OMS, Tax) with cloud-native experience on Google Cloud (Cloud Run, Pub/Sub).
• Excellent communication skills with comfort working directly alongside client technical teams in an agile environment.
• Must be willing to travel to Boca Raton, FL office 2 times before end of year (4 days onsite each trip)

Desired Skills:

• Familiarity with SAP Commerce (Hybris) and B2B workflows (contract pricing, order approvals) is a major plus.
