Job Description
Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer
Location: Chandler, AZ
Work Arrangement: 100% On-site
Schedule: 9/80, every other Friday off
Clearance: Existing active Secret clearance required
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required
Position Overview
We are seeking a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer to support the development, modeling, simulation, and testing of guidance and flight control systems for advanced aerospace applications. This role focuses on flight algorithms, six-degree-of-freedom (6DoF) simulations, trajectory analysis, and software development in a Linux environment.
The engineer will work with multidisciplinary teams to analyze system performance, develop and verify algorithms, and support integration and testing of aerospace systems. This position is fully on-site in Chandler, Arizona, and requires the ability to obtain and maintain required program access.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, implement, verify, and test GNC software and simulation tools.
Develop and maintain six-degree-of-freedom (6DoF) simulations for flight algorithm design, analysis, and testing.
Develop and evaluate guidance, navigation, and control algorithms.
Support flight software development, modeling, simulation, integration, and testing.
Analyze trajectories and optimize mission performance.
Evaluate system behavior, performance, and robustness using modeling and simulation.
Improve flight and simulation software performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Apply mathematical modeling, control theory, and algorithm development to aerospace systems.
Collaborate with engineering teams on system integration, test, and analysis activities.
Document technical results and support development activities using established engineering processes and tools.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or a related engineering discipline with 2 years of professional experience, or a master's degree in a related discipline with 0 years of professional experience.
Existing U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
Experience with guidance, navigation, or control concepts, algorithms, or analysis.
Experience with one or more technical programming or analysis tools, including C++, Python, or MATLAB/Simulink.
Experience developing in a Linux environment.
Experience supporting development, modeling, simulation, testing, integration, or analysis of aerospace or autonomous systems.
Ability to work on-site in Chandler, Arizona.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline.
Strong understanding of control systems theory and guidance law design.
Navigation experience involving Kalman filters, GPS anti-jam techniques, or M-code.
Experience with tracking, discrimination, and state estimation algorithms.
Experience with six-degree-of-freedom simulations, aerodynamic modeling, or rigid-body dynamics.
Knowledge of control methods such as linear quadratic regulation (LQR) and proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control.
Experience with extended Kalman filters (EKF), Monte Carlo analysis, and trajectory optimization.
Proficiency with C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, Linux, and Jira.
Familiarity with Agile engineering and software development practices.
Ideal Candidate
An early-career GNC engineer with hands-on programming and simulation experience, a foundation in control theory, and an interest in developing guidance and flight algorithms for aerospace systems. Candidates with experience in C++, Python, MATLAB, Linux, and aerospace or autonomous system modeling are especially relevant.
