Position Overview

We are seeking a Supplier Program Manager II to oversee the performance of a major supplier supporting a defense program. This role focuses on supplier execution, schedule management, risk mitigation, and coordination across program, engineering, operations, and supply chain teams.

The selected candidate will work directly at the supplier's facility to ensure contractual commitments are met, deliverables stay on schedule, and technical issues are addressed before they affect program execution.

This position is focused on supplier performance and program execution rather than purchasing or procurement authority. The ideal candidate has experience managing suppliers within the defense industry, preferably supporting missile programs, and can work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day performance of a major supplier supporting a defense program.

Monitor supplier schedules, deliverables, milestones, and commitments to ensure on-time execution.

Coordinate with supplier leadership and internal program, engineering, operations, and supply chain teams.

Identify, assess, and mitigate supplier risks affecting cost, schedule, technical performance, or delivery.

Track supplier progress against established program plans and contractual requirements.

Support program material budgets, schedules, forecasts, and supplier business plans.

Resolve supplier issues and escalate significant risks or delays when necessary.

Ensure supplier deliverables meet applicable technical specifications, statements of work, and contractual requirements.

Support supplier performance reviews and communicate program status to internal stakeholders.

Work independently at the supplier's facility to maintain accountability and drive execution.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the required education.

Active DoD Secret clearance. Interim clearances are not accepted.

Experience managing suppliers, subcontractors, or vendor performance.

Strong supplier management and program coordination skills.

Ability to work independently and hold suppliers accountable for schedule and delivery commitments.

Strong communication, problem-solving, and risk management skills.

Ability to work on-site at a supplier facility in the Greater Boston area at least 3 days per week.

Ability to travel to Colorado approximately once per quarter.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically 4-6 years of relevant experience.

Experience supporting defense contractors or government programs.

Missile program or missile industry experience.

Experience in supplier program management, subcontract management, or defense supply chain operations.

Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) as they apply to supplier management.

Experience tracking supplier cost, schedule, technical performance, and contractual deliverables.

Technical or engineering degree.

Higher education or relevant experience in program management and supplier execution.

This opportunity is well suited for a defense industry professional with supplier management experience who can work directly with a major subcontractor, monitor program execution, resolve issues, and keep critical deliverables on schedule.

Candidates should be comfortable working independently, managing supplier relationships, and supporting a high-priority defense program.
