Job Description

Senior Geospatial Data Analyst / Geospatial Data Remediation SME

Company: Silverthorne Advisory Group
Location: Fully Remote
Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required
Employment Type: Full-Time, Salaried
Experience Level: Journeyman, Senior, or Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree

Position Overview

Silverthorne Advisory Group is seeking a skilled Geospatial Data Analyst / Geospatial Data Remediation Specialist to support U.S. Air Force real property and geospatial data quality initiatives. This role focuses on identifying, analyzing, and remediating complex spatial and attribute data discrepancies across enterprise geospatial datasets and real property management systems.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with enterprise Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial data validation, photogrammetry, engineering drawings, aerial imagery interpretation, and data remediation. The successful candidate will work with Geospatial Integration Offices (GIO), Real Property personnel, and other stakeholders to improve data accuracy, resolve discrepancies, support audit readiness, and strengthen the integrity of Air Force geospatial and infrastructure data.

Photogrammetry experience is highly preferred, particularly experience interpreting aerial imagery and extracting or validating geospatial information. Silverthorne is especially interested in candidates who can operate at the Subject Matter Expert (SME) level, bringing deep technical expertise, independent problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to lead complex data remediation efforts.

This is a fully remote position, with targeted site visits as needed to support field validation activities.

Key Responsibilities
Geospatial Analysis and Data Remediation
  • Identify, investigate, and remediate complex spatial and attribute data discrepancies across Air Force geospatial datasets.
  • Analyze linear asset geometry, segmentation, length, and classification discrepancies between GIS layers and real property management systems, including NexGen IT and TRIRIGA.
  • Perform advanced spatial quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) to identify missing, obsolete, duplicated, fragmented, or inaccurate geospatial data.
  • Diagnose root causes of data discrepancies, including topology errors, schema misalignments, and broken linear networks.
  • Develop and implement systematic remediation plans to improve data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
  • Validate corrected datasets and document remediation activities, outcomes, and remaining data gaps.
  • Interpret aerial imagery and other geospatial sources to support spatial analysis, asset identification, and data validation.

Technical Assistance and Field Validation
  • Lead virtual technical assistance sessions with base-level Geospatial Integration Offices (GIO) and Real Property personnel to troubleshoot complex mapping and data quality issues.
  • Provide technical guidance on geospatial data standards, validation methodologies, and remediation best practices.
  • Conduct targeted site visits and field validation activities when desktop analysis and existing records are insufficient.
  • Utilize field collection technologies, including high-accuracy GNSS/GPS equipment, mobile LiDAR, and rangefinders, as appropriate.
  • Establish clear validation boundaries for underground utilities and linear assets, translating data uncertainty into defined engineering and surveying requirements.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies between mapped assets, engineering records, field observations, and property management systems.

Reporting and Data Visualization
  • Translate complex geospatial findings, data remediation results, and audit progress into clear technical documentation, corrective action reports, and executive summaries.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools to monitor data quality, remediation progress, and post-remediation performance.
  • Leverage data visualization tools, including Power BI, to communicate trends, identify recurring issues, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Track key performance indicators and document improvements in data completeness, accuracy, and consistency.

Experience Levels and Compensation

Compensation is based on experience, education, technical expertise, and overall qualifications.

Required Skills

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of directly related professional experience, with additional experience required for senior and SME-level positions.
  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Proficiency with enterprise GIS platforms and geospatial data management tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of CAD files, as-built engineering drawings, aerial imagery interpretation, and survey data integration.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying root causes of spatial data discrepancies and implementing effective remediation strategies.
  • Experience conducting spatial data validation, QA/QC, and geospatial data integrity assessments.
  • Familiarity with field data collection equipment, such as high-accuracy GNSS/GPS collectors, mobile LiDAR, or rangefinders.
  • Strong analytical, technical documentation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate effectively with technical teams and government stakeholders.

Desired Skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Photogrammetry experience is highly preferred, including interpreting aerial imagery, extracting geospatial features, and validating spatial data using imagery-derived information.
  • Experience with remote sensing, aerial imagery analysis, or other imagery-based geospatial workflows.
  • Experience developing dashboards, automated reports, and data visualizations using Microsoft Power BI.
  • Familiarity with Air Force real property management systems, particularly NexGen IT and TRIRIGA.
  • Experience supporting Department of the Air Force or Department of Defense real property, infrastructure, or geospatial data initiatives.
  • Experience with underground utilities, linear infrastructure assets, engineering validation, or survey requirements.
  • Experience supporting audit readiness, data governance, and enterprise data quality improvement initiatives.
  • Advanced technical expertise leading complex geospatial remediation projects and providing subject matter guidance.
