Job Description

Overview

VTG is seeking a Network Design Engineer to support U.S. Army network infrastructure modernization. This individual serves as a critical bridge between the site survey and implementation teams by transforming field-collected survey data into engineering designs, technical documentation, contract deliverables, and installation packages.

What will you do?

The successful candidate will analyze site survey findings, develop "as-is" and "to-be" network architectures, create implementation documentation, and produce engineering artifacts required to support Army network modernization efforts. This role is responsible for converting customer requirements and field observations into executable technical designs that can be deployed by implementation teams.

The position will work closely with site survey personnel, network engineers, implementation teams, cybersecurity specialists, and government stakeholders to ensure modernization activities are accurately engineered, documented, and delivered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze site survey reports, field notes, photographs, inventory data, and existing network documentation.
  • Develop site-specific network modernization designs and engineering solutions.
  • Produce logical and physical network diagrams.
  • Develop engineering installation plans (EIPs) and implementation packages.
  • Create "as-is" and "to-be" network architecture documentation.
  • Develop rack elevations, equipment layouts, cable plans, and connectivity diagrams.
  • Support development of implementation, migration, transition, and cutover plans.
  • Generate contract deliverables required to support design reviews and customer approvals.
  • Prepare bill of materials (BOMs) and equipment recommendations.
  • Validate designs against Army standards, security requirements, and program guidance.
  • Coordinate with site survey teams to resolve data gaps and technical questions.
  • Participate in Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), and engineering working groups.
  • Support technical reviews of implementation packages prior to field deployment.
