Network Engineer (Tier 3 Support)
Program Description:
Our client is supporting DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency), which provides and maintains critical network services across the Department of Defense. The team is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to support advanced routing, switching, and SD-WAN technologies.
The team has already completed much of the initial groundwork and needs someone who can come in, get hands-on with the network environment, validate existing solutions, and help clean up and streamline configurations and processes. This person will work alongside a Solutions Engineer and serve as the hands-on technical resource responsible for building out lab environments, testing network solutions, and troubleshooting issues before implementation.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Provide Tier 3 technical support for complex network issues involving advanced routing, switching, and SD-WAN technologies.
Build and configure network mockups in a lab environment to test and validate proposed solutions.
Work closely with the Solutions Engineer to troubleshoot, test, and validate network designs and configurations.
Review existing network configurations and identify opportunities to clean up, optimize, and streamline the environment.
Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting of routers, switches, and supporting network infrastructure.
Support verification and validation activities before network changes or new capabilities are introduced into the operational environment.
Maintain the lab environment, including equipment configurations, patching, system updates, and baseline management.
Document testing results, troubleshooting procedures, and technical recommendations for the engineering team.
Coordinate with other technical teams to resolve issues and support network improvements.
Required Skills:
Strong hands-on network engineering experience with advanced routing and switching.
Experience working with SD-WAN technologies.
Experience troubleshooting complex network issues in a Tier 3 or senior engineering capacity.
Experience configuring, testing, and validating routers, switches, and network solutions.
Ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues and recommend improvements to existing network configurations.
Experience working in a network lab, test, or integration environment.
