Job Description
MTSI is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer to provide technical leadership within our customer's Software Branch. In this senior role, you will drive the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud-based solutions across the full system lifecycle-from initial architecture and development through deployment, operations, and transition to sustainment. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted cloud engineering authority, representing the customer and ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient cloud environments that support complex software ecosystems and mission-critical systems. Responsibilities include defining and refining cloud requirements, architecting and integrating cloud services, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and directives, and independently supporting the program office across all cloud engineering, migration, and operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead cloud architecture, engineering, and implementation efforts across the full lifecycle, ensuring scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions that support mission systems and evolving customer needs.
• Define, refine, and integrate cloud service requirements into system design, development, deployment pipelines, and operational processes.
• Advise system owners and engineering leadership on cloud adoption risks, technical impacts, cost considerations, dependencies, and compliance with applicable cloud, security, and DoD standards.
• Assess cloud service updates, configuration changes, and infrastructure modifications; recommend, implement, and validate optimal cloud solutions.
• Review, approve, and oversee technical documentation including cloud architecture diagrams, service configurations, deployment plans, engineering change proposals, and operational procedures.
• Conduct, verify, and document cloud integration and performance testing to ensure environments, interfaces, and services are accurate, resilient, and ready for production.
• Prepare and deliver cloud readiness assessments, optimization recommendations, and status reports to program leadership and stakeholders.
• Apply sound cloud engineering, automation, and configuration-management principles across all phases of design, deployment, and operations.
• Evaluate cloud, network, and system architectures to identify risks, performance bottlenecks, and security considerations; recommend effective mitigation strategies.
• Support teams developing new mission software capabilities or migrating legacy applications by providing expert cloud engineering and modernization guidance throughout the development lifecycle.
• Identify and resolve system-of-systems challenges as new cloud capabilities and services are integrated into complex digital and mission environments.
• Stay informed on emerging cloud technologies, services, automation tools, and best practices to strengthen the efficiency, reliability, and resilience of cloud environments.
This position requires deep technical expertise, a strong understanding of modern cloud architectures and engineering principles, and the ability to translate complex requirements into secure, scalable, and efficient cloud solutions. If you are a motivated professional with a passion for delivering resilient, high-performance cloud environments, we encourage you to apply.
Qualifications:
• Possess minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
• Experience working in a DoW program or product acquisition office or environment
• Have no less than three (3) years' experience in a Special Access Program (SAP) and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) environment within the last five (5) years
Education:
• A Master of Arts/Master of Science/Master of Engineering MA/MS/ME degree (Years of experience may be considered in lieu of a master's degree)
Clearance Requirements:
• Must possess an active DoD Top Secret (TS) security clearance with ability to obtain SCI
• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position, due to contract requirements.
