Job Description
MTSI is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to support Software, Compute, and Autonomy capabilities within an Integrated Capabilities Team (ICT) under AFLCMC/WA at Wright-Patterson AFB. The selected candidate will provide deep technical leadership in systems engineering, open architectures, autonomy-enabling software, and secure compute environments. This role emphasizes architecture development, system-of-systems integration, and mission-driven engineering analysis across advanced Air Force capability portfolios. The candidate will work across diverse technical disciplines, organizational boundaries, and security levels to deliver integrated solutions supporting next-generation warfighting capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Guide system engineering efforts supporting the development, integration, and maturation of software, autonomy, and compute-centric capabilities within an ICT.
• Assess, analyze, and assess open architecture approaches, including SOSA, AMS GRA, and UCI, to ensure interoperability and modularity across system-of-systems environments.
• Conduct system engineering assessments covering:
• Translate abstract operational needs and capability gaps into actionable engineering tasks, acquisition artifacts, and technical recommendations.
• Organize complex technical data into executive-level briefings, providing clarity for senior leadership and decision-makers.
• Evaluate vendor designs, software architectures, interface definitions, and integration plans across compute, autonomy, and mission system domains.
• Support multiple engineering and collaboration environments including classified IT systems, multi-level VTC, and in-person technical exchanges.
• Guide and task-organize cross-functional teams to drive completion of engineering assessments, technical reviews, and program milestones.
• Work collaboratively across government, industry, and research partners-bridging organizational and functional boundaries to produce integrated outcomes.
Position Requirements
• In-depth knowledge of open architecture frameworks, including:
• Strong foundation in systems engineering principles, including:
• Ability to integrate and reason about abstract concepts (e.g., autonomy, distributed compute, digital engineering) to produce acquisition-relevant outcomes.
• Proven ability to work effectively across organizational and functional boundaries.
• Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex technical information into concise, decision-ready executive summaries.
• Ability to work efficiently across multiple security levels and collaboration environments.
• Experience coordinating and leading technical teams to successful completion of tasks.
Qualifications:
• Possess minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
• Experience working in a DoW program or product acquisition office or environment
• Have no less than three (3) years' experience in a Special Access Program (SAP) and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) environment within the last five (5) years
Education:
• Master of Science (MS)/Master of Arts (MA) or higher in a relevant engineering discipline.
• In lieu of the MS/MA or higher in a relevant engineering discipline, a BS in a relevant engineering discipline and a MS/MA or higher, or an equivalent professional degree (for example, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Juris Doctor). An engineering technology degree does not meet this requirement.
• In lieu of the MS/MA or higher or an equivalent professional degree, a BS/BA in a relevant engineering discipline and fifteen (15) years of experience in an engineering position with the DoD, other government agency, or DoD contractor.
Clearance Requirements:
• Must possess an active DoD Top Secret (TS) security clearance with ability to obtain SCI
• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position, due to contract requirements.
