Position Overview
Cadence Coalition LLC is seeking a Cloud Engineer (Intermediate / Level II) to support DISA’s Emerging Technology Directorate and Technology Analysis Center (TAC) laboratory under the STEaKMM effort.
The selected candidate will serve as the cloud technical lead, designing, deploying, maintaining, and securing cloud infrastructure with minimal oversight in support of technology evaluations and prototype activities.
Primary Responsibilities
• Serve as cloud lead for design, deployment, administration, maintenance, and security of cloud infrastructure.
• Support technology evaluation, prototyping, and pilot environments hosted in or interfacing with cloud platforms.
• Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain cloud services and infrastructure resources.
• Deploy and scale applications and services across AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Oracle Cloud, using templates and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) for repeatable deployments.
• Deploy, configure, secure, and manage cloud-native container orchestration services (e.g., AWS EKS/ECS, Azure AKS, Google GKE, Oracle OKE) across multi-cloud environments.
• Configure virtual machines, networks, and user accounts; monitor health and performance; enforce security policies and access; and perform patching and routine maintenance.
• Interact with cloud service providers and contribute to Architectural Diagrams, Ports and Protocols, and Configuration/SOP deliverables.
• Collaborate with systems, networking, and cybersecurity personnel to integrate cloud solutions with lab and enterprise requirements.
• Document cloud architectures, configuration decisions, deployment procedures, and security considerations.
• Assist with evaluating operational readiness and technical performance of cloud-based emerging technologies.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum six (6) years of relevant systems administration and engineering experience, including at least two (2) years of cloud engineering in DoD, commercial, or comparable environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. Five (5) years of specialized experience beyond the six (6) required may be substituted for the degree.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance.
• Ability to design, deploy, maintain, and secure cloud infrastructure with minimal oversight.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and cloud-native container orchestration (e.g., EKS/ECS, AKS, GKE, OKE).
Security and Certification Requirements
• U.S. citizenship and an active, final DoD Secret clearance with a favorably adjudicated Tier 3 investigation (or Continuous Evaluation enrollment current within five years, reflected in DISS) at the start of performance.
• Must currently hold a DoD 8140 Basic proficiency level certification for DCWF work role 451 plus an industry cloud certification (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle); an Intermediate proficiency level 451 certification may be substituted for both.
• Must be able to comply with DISA information-security, CUI-handling, and personnel access requirements, including signing a DISA Non-Disclosure Agreement and completing DISA initial and annual mandatory security training.
Work Location and Schedule
• Primary place of performance is DISA Headquarters at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.
• Work supports DISA technology engineering and/or knowledge management requirements; onsite access is subject to Government facility and seating arrangements.
• Hybrid schedule with daily Monday through Friday on-site coverage at DISA, 6914 Cooper Avenue, Fort Meade, and core hours of 0900 to 1500 ET; the on-site/telework balance is set by the Government COR and may change with mission needs.
• Occasional local and CONUS travel may be required, with written COR approval in advance.
• Key personnel are required to be onboard at the beginning of the period of performance.
Preferred Qualifications
• Multi-cloud experience across two or more of AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud.
• Experience supporting cloud-hosted test labs, containerized solutions, infrastructure automation, or secure technology pilots.
Application Requirements
Applicants should submit a current resume clearly identifying:
• Bachelor’s degree (or qualifying experience substitution) and at least six years of relevant experience, including two years of cloud engineering.
• Cloud infrastructure design, deployment, maintenance, and security experience, including infrastructure as code and container orchestration.
• Current active Secret clearance status and availability to support work at Fort Meade.
• DoD 8140 certification details for each certification held: certification type, certification number, expiration date, and certification provider.
• Willingness to be named as key personnel in Cadence Coalition’s proposal and to sign a letter of commitment.
