Job Description
Security Test and Validation Engineer (Journeyman)
Job Description-
The Security Test and Validation Engineer provides hands-on technical testing, validation, and security verification in support of Chrome Enterprise Premium and Zero Trust Architecture implementation. This role ensures that browser, endpoint, access, security, and Zero Trust configurations are correctly implemented, operate as intended, and meet defined technical and cybersecurity requirements. The engineer develops and executes comprehensive test plans, validates security controls, and collaborates closely with cybersecurity, engineering, and system administration teams to support secure enterprise deployments.
Responsibilities-
Develop and execute detailed test plans, test cases, validation procedures, and acceptance criteria for Chrome Enterprise Premium and Zero Trust Architecture capabilities.
Perform functional, regression, compatibility, integration, configuration, and security-control testing across browser, endpoint, and access solutions.
Validate Chrome Browser Cloud Management enrollment, configuration, policy deployment, and enforcement to ensure consistent and secure behavior.
Test migration of applicable legacy Group Policy Object configurations to Chrome Browser Cloud Management and verify consistent policy application across users and endpoints.
Conduct browser, application, extension, authentication, and workflow compatibility testing to confirm that business processes function as expected.
Validate identity, device, endpoint, application, access, and data-security controls that support Zero Trust implementation.
Test policy enforcement and access decisions against approved Zero Trust Architecture requirements and defined use cases.
Validate integrations between Chrome Enterprise Premium and Zero Trust solutions with identity, endpoint security, SIEM, and other enterprise security capabilities.
Analyze test results, identify technical deficiencies, document findings, and coordinate remediation activities with engineering and cybersecurity personnel.
Perform retesting following configuration changes, remediation efforts, and resolution of security findings to confirm effective corrective actions.
Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of defects or issues identified during testing and validation.
Validate rollback, recovery, and remediation procedures prior to production implementation to ensure safe deployment and contingency readiness.
Support pilot activities, deployment-readiness assessments, and post-implementation validation to confirm production stability and security posture.
Generate technical evidence to support cybersecurity, security-control validation, and authorization activities, including documentation required for compliance processes.
Maintain traceability among requirements, configurations, test results, findings, remediation actions, and final validation outcomes.
Develop and maintain test plans, validation reports, defect logs, test evidence, and related technical documentation in a clear and organized manner.
Provide technical validation findings and identify unresolved risks or deficiencies to inform deployment and acceptance decisions by stakeholders.
Coordinate testing and remediation activities across cybersecurity, engineering, architecture, and system administration teams to ensure aligned and timely execution.
Essential Skills-
Active Secret security clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent education and/or relevant experience.
5–8 years of experience in cybersecurity testing, security control validation, endpoint management, and enterprise security implementations.
Demonstrated experience performing cybersecurity, system, endpoint, application, or infrastructure testing and validation.
Experience independently developing and executing technical test cases and validation procedures.
Working knowledge of cybersecurity controls, endpoint and configuration management, and identity and access-control technologies.
Ability to translate technical and security requirements into measurable test and acceptance criteria.
Experience analyzing test results, documenting deficiencies, and validating corrective actions.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate and resolve complex technical issues.
Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly document technical findings and present results to stakeholders.
Proficiency in technical documentation, including test plans, validation reports, defect logs, and evidence artifacts.
Hands-on experience with endpoint and enterprise security management tools such as Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Configuration Manager/SCCM or comparable endpoint-management technologies.
Practical experience supporting Zero Trust or similar cybersecurity initiatives, including validation of identity and access management and security controls.
Ability to coordinate testing and remediation activities across cybersecurity, engineering, architecture, and system administration teams.
Additional Skills and Qualifications-
Experience with Chrome Enterprise Premium and Chrome Browser Cloud Management, including enrollment, configuration, and policy management.
Experience with Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Configuration Manager/SCCM, or comparable endpoint-management platforms in enterprise environments.
Knowledge of Zero Trust principles and NIST SP 800-207.
Familiarity with the Department of Defense Risk Management Framework, security controls, STIGs, vulnerability management, and authorization processes.
Familiarity with SIEM platforms, endpoint security solutions, identity management, and conditional access technologies.
Experience supporting enterprise migrations, pilot deployments, production-readiness testing, and post-implementation validation.
Background in security testing, security controls assessment, and vulnerability assessments.
Experience with identity and access management concepts and tools, including Zero Trust and IAM-focused architectures.
Exposure to modern endpoint management ecosystems such as MECM and related enterprise security platforms.
Work Environment-
This position operates in a hybrid work model, primarily remote with the possibility of occasional on-site presence in Bethesda, Maryland in special or urgent situations. The role involves working within an enterprise technology environment that leverages tools such as Chrome Enterprise Premium, Chrome Browser Cloud Management, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Configuration Manager/SCCM, endpoint security platforms, SIEM solutions, and identity and access management technologies. Collaboration typically occurs through virtual meetings and digital collaboration platforms, with coordination across cybersecurity, engineering, architecture, and system administration teams. Work focuses on structured testing, documentation, and analysis, requiring careful attention to detail and adherence to established security and validation processes.
