Java Developer
Morgantown, WV (On-site) | Full-time | No security clearance required
About the Role
M&S Consulting is hiring a Java Developer to join our team in Morgantown, WV. You'll build and maintain back-end Java services and integrations alongside senior engineers, product owners, and QA in an Agile team. This role is a strong fit for an early-career developer who has built a few solid Java projects and wants to grow on meaningful, production systems.
What You'll Do
- Develop, test, and maintain Java back-end services and RESTful APIs using Spring and Spring Boot
- Build and support integrations with internal and external systems
- Write unit and integration tests and take part in code reviews
- Troubleshoot and resolve defects and production issues
- Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Document your work according to team standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software or Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Less than 5 years of professional software development experience
- A few Java projects you've built (professional, academic, or personal) that you can walk us through
- Working knowledge of Spring or Spring Boot, REST APIs, and SQL
- Experience with Git
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn
- Ability to work on-site in Morgantown, WV
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to Apache Camel or other integration frameworks
- Experience with message brokers such as ActiveMQ or Kafka
- SQL Server experience
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines or Azure DevOps
- Experience working on a Scrum team
