Job Description

Duties

As a SECRETARY (OFFICE AUTOMATION) at the GS-0318-8 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Exercise exclusive control over the Director of Operations and Senior Executive Service Deputy Director daily calendars.
  • Receive telephone calls, greets visitors, and ascertains the nature of the calls or visits.
  • Prepare a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents from information obtained from the staff, files, and other source.
  • Review and process incoming and outgoing correspondence, materials, publications, regulations, and directives.
  • Perform other clerical and administrative work in support of the office/organization.
  • Use multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and updating or revising existing databases or spreadsheets.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-08 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Scheduling meetings and appointments, accepting, or declining invitations.
  • Making contacts with high-ranking officials from outside an employing agency at national or international levels.
  • Preparing and finalizing various recurring reports, determining and modifying format, content, and frequency requirements.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
