Description
The MuleSoft Developer builds and deploys APIs and integration flows using Anypoint Studio. The role focuses on writing efficient code for data transformation, error handling, and message routing according to technical specifications.

The MuleSoft Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining mission-critical enterprise integration solutions that enable seamless connectivity across U.S. Army / Department of War (DoW) business systems. This role serves as the technical bridge between the Salesforce ecosystem, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud, and external enterprise applications, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms, legacy government databases, authoritative data sources, and third-party SaaS solutions.

Using MuleSoft's Anypoint Platform, the MuleSoft Developer develops scalable, secure, and reusable APIs aligned with MuleSoft's API-led connectivity architecture, including System, Process, and Experience APIs. Responsibilities include integration architecture design, API development, data transformation, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and support of enterprise-wide integration initiatives.

The position requires hands-on expertise with Mule Runtime 4, DataWeave 2.0, Salesforce integrations, Application Programming Interface (API) management, and automated Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) deployment pipelines. The MuleSoft Developer collaborates with DoW and business stakeholders, architects, developers, and system administrators to deliver high-quality integration solutions that support organizational objectives, ensure data integrity, and promote efficient information exchange across the enterprise.

Duties and Responsibilities
• API & Integration Engineering: Design, build, and maintain enterprise integration flows, Representational State Transfer (REST)ful, Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) APIs, and data pipelines connecting Salesforce to legacy DoW databases, ERPs, and third-party platforms using MuleSoft Anypoint Studio and CloudHub
• API-Led Architecture: Implement 3-tiered API-led architectures (System, Process, Experience layers) and reusable components using RAML/OAS
• Salesforce Connectivity: Configure and optimize Salesforce-to-external system integrations using the MuleSoft Salesforce Connector, Platform Events, Change Data Capture (CDC), and Salesforce Bulk/REST APIs
• Data Transformation: Develop complex data mappings, transformations, and enrichments using DataWeave 2.0
• Reliability & Security: Implement Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP), message queuing: Java Message Service (JMS), Kafka, or Amazon WebServices (AWS) Simple Queue Service (SQS)/ Simple Notification Service (SNS), robust error-handling frameworks, rate limiting, and gateway-enforced security policies: OAuth 2.0, Mutual Transport Layer Security (mTLS), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificates, secrets management, and Role Based Access Control (RBAC) in Anypoint API Manager aligned with DoW cybersecurity and identity management controls
• DevOps & Testing: Write unit and functional tests using MUnit; automate deployments using Maven and DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps)
• Troubleshooting & Optimization: Monitor API performance, analyze runtime transaction logs, and resolve connectivity, throttling, and latency issues across hybrid environments
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with DoW stakeholders, Salesforce Administrators, Solutions Architects, and business analysts to translate complex functional requirements into low-level technical specifications within an Agile environment
• Legacy Modernization: Analyze legacy DoW systems to identify architectural bottlenecks and implement API-led migration paths
• Security & Compliance: Enforce FedRAMP, NIST, and DoW cybersecurity requirements, including PII safeguards for data in transit and at rest

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 3–6+ years of professional integration experience, with at least 3 years dedicated to the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform
• Salesforce Ecosystem: Solid understanding of Salesforce core objects, data models, Salesforce Object Query Language (SOQL)/ Salesforce Object Search Language (SOSL), security architecture, and outbound integration mechanisms (Webhooks, Platform Events, Apex Callouts)
• Proficiency in RAML and OpenAPI (OAS) specification design, Advanced DataWeave 2.0 transformation skills
• Practical knowledge of relational databases (Structure Query Language (SQL), PostgreSQL) and messaging technologies (Kafka, JMS, AWS SQS/SNS)
• Hands-on experience with version control (Git) and dependency management (Maven)
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams
• Active Secret Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required

Desired Qualifications
• MuleSoft Certified Developer (Level 1 / Level 2)
• MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect
• Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I (PDI) or Salesforce Certified Administrator
• Experience deploying to Anypoint Runtime Fabric (RTF) or CloudHub 2.0
• Experience integrating Salesforce Data Cloud, Marketing Cloud, or Agentforce/AI-driven APIs
• Background working in Agile/Scrum cross-functional environments
