Job Description
Are you an experienced cybersecurity professional with a strong background supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) initiatives in government environments? We are seeking a Sr. Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) II to help drive security compliance, risk management, and cybersecurity operations for highly secure federal systems.
In this role, you will partner with stakeholders to achieve and maintain ATO status, conduct security assessments, monitor threats, and ensure systems meet stringent government cybersecurity requirements.
What You'll Do
- Support and maintain Authority to Operate (ATO) compliance for government information systems
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand system architecture, security requirements, and compliance objectives
- Conduct security assessments, vulnerability analyses, and risk evaluations
- Monitor security logs, network activity, and system alerts to identify suspicious or unauthorized activity
- Investigate security incidents, determine root cause, assess impact, and support remediation efforts
- Develop and execute incident response procedures including containment, eradication, and recovery activities
- Partner with technical teams to implement security controls including: Firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), Encryption solutions, Access control mechanisms
- Ensure ongoing compliance with government cybersecurity standards and regulations
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of cybersecurity experience with a strong focus on government ATO support
- Deep understanding of government cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards, including: NIST SP 800-53, RMF, ICD 503, FISMA, FedRAMP
- Proven experience achieving and maintaining ATOs for cloud-based environments
- Experience supporting Impact Level (IL) 5 and IL6+ environments
- Knowledge of: Cloud infrastructure technologies, CI/CD pipelines, Containerized environments, Networking and operating systems
- Experience with vulnerability assessment and security monitoring tools
- Strong incident response and forensic investigation experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- CISSP or equivalent certification meeting DoD 8140 requirements
- Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
