Data Analyst Lead – CMDB

Job Description:
This project team supports key IT/IS initiatives to enhance and sustain the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB) as a foundational element of security controls and technology-governance processes.
The CMDB Data Analyst Lead will play a critical role in managing governed configuration data, ensuring CI quality, and maturing the CMDB in alignment with the Common Services Data Model (CSDM). The analyst will perform hands-on analysis and data management across multiple authoritative sources, both integrated and non-integrated, including SCCM, Intune, Azure, AWS, and on-prem discovery tools. This role partners closely with architecture, discovery, development, and subject-matter experts to improve CI completeness, accuracy, and alignment to CMDB/CSDM standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyzing and managing bulk CI data, evaluating data inputs used for Discovery versus manual effort estimates.
- Assisting with story refinement, and proactively identifying data-quality risks and reconciliation issues.
- Support troubleshooting of Discovery identification and CI-matching through the ServiceNow Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) and collaborate in the governance of new data sources and data-domain standards.
Required Skills:
- Experience with service-mapping approaches (top-down, tag-based, and query-based) as well as managing dynamic CI groups and supporting technology service offerings.
- Strong ownership of data accuracy, agoverned-data mindset, and clear communication of risks and insights to project leadership are essential.
- Hands-on experience (2+ years) working directly with the ServiceNow CMDB in a governed environment.
- Strong knowledge of CMDB taxonomy and the Common Services Data Model (CSDM).
- Proven experience analyzing, managing, and reconciling CI data across diverse authoritative sources.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow Discovery concepts, identification logic, and the Identification and Reconciliation Engine.
- Experience with service-mapping methods (top-down, tag-based, query-based) and management of dynamic CI groups.
- Ability to collaborate with technical and operational stakeholders to troubleshoot data issues and improve CMDB quality.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ownership of data accuracy and governance outcomes.
- Relevant ServiceNow certification preferred (e.g., CMDB, Discovery, or CSDM-related).

Desired Skills:
- A ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – Data Foundations (CMDB and CSDM) certified individual would be highly preferred.
- Ideally 2+ years of hands-on ServiceNow CMDB experience and with a multi-source CMDB (SCCM, Intune, Azure, AWS, on-prem discovery.
