Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seekinga Manager Engineering Technical Support - Level 1 to join the team in Redondo Beach, CA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Mechanical Systems and Structures (MS&S) Department working in the Precision Assembly manufacturing area. The candidate will lead a hands-on manufacturing team responsible for composite and metallic mechanical structures, mirror bonding, precision assembly and light precision fabrication.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development of mechanical and electromechanical engineering designs, tests, fabrications, modifications, assemblies and components.
  • Drafts detailed drawings for fabrication.
  • Devices, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies.
  • Sets up and tests complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions.
  • Analyzes data and recommends modifications to components or test procedure to meet desired specifications.
  • Lead multiple teams of technicians to be successful in their assigned builds meeting cost and schedule


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of professional experience or Master's degree with 3 years of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience using MS office tools and other software.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and executing processes.
  • Ability to obtain In-Scope SCI clearance access.
  • Ability to work off shifts, 2nd shift, rotating shifts, and overtime when necessary.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Experience standing up new operating processes or working through the Root cause corrective action process
  • Experience managing a team
  • Active In-Scope SCI clearance access or ability to obtain one.
  • Experience working in the space or aerospace industry

Primary Level Salary Range: $121,000.00 - $181,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
