Principal Range Safety & Flight Termination Engineer (ENG IV)

Join a missile defense targets engineering team as its range safety and flight termination lead. You will be the program office's range safety expert, overseeing flight termination systems (FTS) across launch and reentry vehicles, including autonomous systems.

What You Will Do

• Be the program office's range safety voice at flight tests, flight termination tests and range safety working group meetings

• Oversee requirements development, allocation and verification for target FTS products, including autonomous flight termination

• Watch over FTS hardware and software from development and qualification through acceptance, integration and final checkout

• Write technical reports on system status, findings and recommendations

• Represent the government in technical working groups, customer forums and design reviews

Required Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience

• Flight termination and ordnance systems

• Flight safety analysis to RCC-324 (range safety tracking) and RCC-319 (flight termination) standards

• Range tracking using C-band, GPS and IMU sources

• Master's degree in a STEM field

• Active DoD Secret clearance

• Onsite in Huntsville, AL

• Autonomous flight termination (AFTS)

• Time on the floor during flight test operations

• Ordnance devices, batteries, antennas and RF systems

• 10+ years in defense and aerospace
