Job Description

Duties

  • Researches Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWR's), publications,drawings, safety manuals, letters of instruction (LOI's), technical manuals, etc
  • The controller must have knowledge, skill, and experience to prevent or alleviate production delays, scheduling conflicts, the lack of sufficient materials, faulty processes, labor shortages, or skilled trade imbalances.
  • Prepares and staffs standard operating procedures (SOP's) in varied formats prescribed by higher authority.
  • Preparing and/or collecting drawings and specifications, flow charts, operational layouts, and related data governing maintenance operations for munitions involved.
  • Coordinates with operating management and other organizations to finalize the planning and scheduling of manpower, material needs, critical work changes, equipment adaptation, operational shutdown, and short time deadlines.
  • Prepares work instructions for production shop or lines and sets day-to-day schedule of operations
  • Prepares and submits cost estimates, required manhours, and workload information for justification of the utilization of manpower and funds allocated.
  • Revises schedules, as required, when affected by non-programmed projects, changes in programmed projects, priority changes, unavailability of items needed for modification or repair, consumption of funds, or other related circumstances.
  • Attends meetings and maintains oral and written liaison and follow-up with on- and off-depot organizations regarding production schedules, estimates, funding authorizations, and reports.
  • Incumbent is required to travel individually or as a team member or leader to attend conferences regarding specific programs.

  • The employee must meet the requirements of AMCR 350-4, Training and Certification Program for personnel working in ammunition operations within one year of employment.

  • GS-09 Specialized Experience- Inservice (Internal)

One year of experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent assisting with production control for ammunition maintenance and demilitarization operations such as: reviewing work requirements, estimating labor and materials, preparing work schedules and instructions, tracking work, and helping resolve routine delays.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
  • GS-09 Specialized Experience- External

One year of experience equivalent to at least the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service that included planning, scheduling, estimating, and expediting ammunition maintenance or demilitarization work. Experience included using technical data, maintenance requirements, schedules, drawings, and safety guidance to determine workload, labor, material, tooling, equipment, and production requirements. Experience also included monitoring projects with multiple munitions work operations, revising schedules as needed, and resolving routine issues involving materials, labor, equipment, priorities, or delivery dates.
  • GS-11 Specialized Experience- Inservice (Internal)

One year of experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service that includes planning and coordinating complex ammunition maintenance, renovation, demilitarization, or missile and rocket maintenance projects involving multiple work operations, production shops, materials, equipment, and safety requirements. Experience included preparing production plans, schedules, work instructions, and labor and cost estimates; coordinating with production, supply, quality, engineering, and support personnel; monitoring work progress; and resolving delays, shortages, changing priorities, or equipment and material problems.

  • GS-11 Specialized Experience- External


One year of experience equivalent to at least the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service that included independently performing production control for complex ammunition maintenance, demilitarization, renovation, destructive operations, or missile and rocket maintenance programs. Experience in developing and managing production plans and schedules; determining labor, material, equipment, funding, and workload requirements; coordinating work among multiple organizations; and resolving significant production issues involving safety limitations, material shortages, labor availability, changing requirements, equipment constraints, or competing priorities. Evaluating production performance and revising plans or resource estimates to meet mission requirements.
