Job Description

Duties

  • Test various electronic systems for parameters such as, interference, sensitivity, reliability, performance, operation, electromagnetics, etc.
  • Assist engineers by documenting the performance of electronic systems undergoing tests.
  • Serve as a technical assistant for electronic testing projects by applying the principles of electronics engineering and related fields including digital electronics, analog electronics, physics, and electromagnetics.

  • Must be willing to undergo a physical examination initially, and annually thereafter.
  • Must be willing to travel on Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift items weighing less than 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to utilize personal protective equipment provided by the employer.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: performing computer-controlled testing of electronic systems; diagnosing circuit problems by the use of schematic diagrams; isolating system faults through the application of theoretical analysis of circuitry construction; calibrating a variety of test equipment to ensure reliability; repairing and/or replacing components; and preparing computer test data for electronic transmission.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
