What you'll do

We are seeking a Sustainment Project Manager to coordinate sustainment and lifecycle support activities for satellite ground systems supporting government and commercial customers. These systems require ongoing operational support, maintenance, and periodic upgrades to ensure mission success and system availability.

This position will manage multiple small to medium-sized sustainment projects and serve as a key liaison between customers, technical teams, and operational stakeholders. The role is responsible for coordinating project activities, tracking performance, supporting customer needs, and ensuring successful delivery of sustainment services across a geographically distributed infrastructure.

The day-to-day

This team member will work closely with customers, operational users, engineering teams, and mission partners to support the delivery of sustainment services and technical capabilities. The Sustainment Project Manager will regularly engage with government and commercial customers, operational users, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to coordinate project activities, address customer needs, and support mission objectives.

The successful candidate must be capable of building positive working relationships across organizational boundaries and effectively managing multiple projects simultaneously, and will support all aspects of project execution, including customer engagement, schedule management, project reporting, risk tracking, technical coordination, and subcontractor management.

  • Manage multiple sustainment, maintenance, and upgrade projects supporting satellite ground stations and associated mission systems
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for routine customer communications and project coordination activities
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with customers, operational users, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Represent the company in customer meetings, project reviews, technical interchange meetings (TIMs), and status briefings
  • Coordinate project activities to ensure alignment between customer requirements, subcontractor deliverables, and operational objectives
  • Support operational readiness, system availability, and mission continuity objectives
  • Assist in planning and coordinating sustainment, modernization, and technology refresh activities
  • Track project cost, schedule, risks, action items, and technical performance metrics
  • Prepare project status reports, meeting minutes, and customer deliverables
  • Identify and escalate project risks, issues, and resource constraints as appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and company processes
  • Prepare proposals for contract renewals

What you'll need

  • 5+ years' project management, project coordination, operations, engineering support or related experience
  • Experience supporting DoD, aerospace, satellite communications, telecommunications or technology programs
  • Validated experience supporting customer-facing technical projects
  • Proven ability to coordinate activities across cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent experience
  • U.S. Government position. US Citizenship required
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain when administratively feasible
  • Ability to travel up to 15%

What will help you on the job

  • Familiarity with sustainment, maintenance, operations, or lifecycle support activities
  • Knowledge of satellite communications, networking, ground systems, or mission support environments
  • Experience preparing customer briefings, project status reports, and executive summaries
  • CAPM, PMP or equivalent project management certification, or willingness to obtain
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • Experience using Microsoft Project, Planner, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar project management tools

Salary range

$94,500.00 - $149,000.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $117,000.00- $176,000.00/ annually
