Sr. Platform Software Engineer
Pay Rate: $75-100/hr W2
Overview
We are seeking a senior technical leader to drive the design, deployment, and modernization of enterprise infrastructure platforms supporting complex mission-critical environments. This individual will oversee a team of infrastructure and software engineers while helping shape future platform capabilities through automation, systems integration, and emerging technologies.
The role focuses on delivering reliable compute, storage, networking, and operating system solutions while advancing modernization efforts through Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and scalable platform architectures.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a diverse team of 15+ engineers across platform, systems, and infrastructure disciplines.
Provide technical direction for the planning, design, deployment, and sustainment of Linux and Windows-based enterprise platforms.
Oversee execution of infrastructure recovery, modernization, and system enhancement initiatives while ensuring key delivery objectives are achieved.
Mentor engineers through technical coaching, knowledge sharing, and career development activities.
Guide architecture decisions and conduct technical reviews for future-state development and operational environments.
Ensure platform solutions align with organizational cybersecurity requirements, security controls, and compliance standards.
Maintain responsibility for resource planning and financial management of assigned technical initiatives.
Collaborate with program leadership and engineering stakeholders to improve platform capabilities and operational efficiency.
Position requires onsite support in the Plano, TX area.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or another related technical discipline.
8+ years of experience supporting infrastructure engineering, systems integration, or platform operations.
Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management solutions such as Terraform, Ansible, or comparable technologies.
Experience deploying, integrating, and maintaining enterprise software and infrastructure services.
Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
Experience supporting virtualized environments and enterprise compute platforms.
Familiarity with Agile delivery frameworks, including Scrum, SAFe, or similar methodologies.
Desired Qualifications
Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for access to restricted government programs.
Current Security+ or equivalent DoD-approved cybersecurity certification.
Experience implementing and supporting DevOps and CI/CD toolchains such as GitLab, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Artifactory, or similar platforms.
Prior experience leading technical teams in complex engineering environments.
Experience deploying and integrating commercial and open-source infrastructure solutions.
Strong background developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions and automated platform provisioning workflows.
Broad infrastructure expertise spanning compute, storage, networking, and systems administration.
Experience with scripting or software development using languages such as Python, Java, Go, Bash, C#, C++, Ruby, or similar technologies.
Ability to diagnose and resolve performance, stability, availability, and operational issues across enterprise platforms.
Experience with container and orchestration technologies including Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, Helm, Rancher, or related platforms.
