Job Summary:
Designs clear, efficient user interfaces and experiences that balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints. Produces prototypes, visual designs, and specifications that developers and stakeholders can execute against.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct user research, journey mapping, and usability testing to inform design decisions.
· Produce wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity visual designs.
· Establish and maintain design systems, component libraries, and interaction patterns.
· Author design specifications and collaborate with developers through implementation.
· Validate designs against WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility criteria prior to development handoff.
· Mentor junior designers and advocate user-centered design practices across delivery teams.
Minimum Qualifications
· Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.
· Minimum Experience: Five (5) to eight (8) years of hands-on UI/UX design experience with a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design work.
· Certifications - Required: None.
· Certifications - Obtainable After Hire: Nielsen Norman Group (NN/g) UX Certification or Google UX Design Certificate, within 180 days of assignment.
· Certifications - Preferred: IAAP CPACC; Adobe Certified Professional; Certified Usability Analyst (CUA).
· Required Skills: Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch; wireframing and prototyping; user research; usability testing; design systems; visual design principles; working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
· Preferred Skills: WCAG accessibility standards; motion design and micro-interactions; Agile and Scrum environments; mentoring junior designers.
Technical Environment
Figma with FigJam; Adobe XD and Creative Cloud; Sketch; Axure RP; Miro; U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) and Material Design; Storybook component documentation; HTML, CSS, and design tokens; axe and WAVE accessibility validation; Optimal Workshop and UserTesting research platforms.
