Job Description
Salary Range: $70,310 - $90,500
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support the F/A-18 A-D Hornet Team. The selected candidate will support requirements development, subsystem integration, interface definition, test planning and execution, technical documentation, and anomaly resolution activities across multiple aircraft systems.
The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in systems engineering and be able to understand complex subsystem interactions, break technical problems into manageable elements, develop clear engineering products, and coordinate effectively with engineers, project officers, test personnel, and leadership. Candidates must be able to apply systems-engineering principles in a complex aircraft sustainment or modernization environment.
Essential Job Functions:
Decompose system-level requirements into clear, traceable functional, subsystem, interface, and verification requirements.
Develop, review, and update systems-engineering documentation.
Support requirement implementation and analysis, including understanding how aircraft subsystems exchange data, signals, and control information.
Develop test and evaluation products, including test objectives, test points, procedures, expected results, and discrepancy documentation.
Support execution of system, subsystem, integration, and regression testing; analyze results and document findings.
Assist with planning and coordinating integration activities across F/A-18 A-D subsystems and associated support organizations.
Analyze technical issues and anomalies; recommend practical engineering solutions and corrective actions.
Coordinate with project officers and technical team members to ensure requirements are implemented, traced, and adequately verified.
Prepare technical status updates, risk items, issue summaries, and briefing materials for project teams and leadership.
Participate in peer reviews of requirements, interface, test, architecture, and other engineering-baseline documentation.
Work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, both internal and external to the product team.
Required Qualifications:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline. At least 1 year of relevant engineering or systems-engineering experience supporting complex systems. Relevant experience may include aerospace, defense, avionics, embedded systems, software/hardware integration, test engineering, or similar technical environments.
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance throughout the duration of employment.
Demonstrated experience with:
Requirements decomposition and traceability.
System or subsystem architecture and design.
Test planning, test procedure development, test execution, or test-result analysis.
Technical documentation and engineering peer reviews.
Ability to understand interactions and dependencies among multiple hardware, software, and/or subsystem elements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical personnel.
Demonstrated attention to detail, professionalism, adaptability, and sound problem-solving ability.
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while coordinating effectively with a broader technical team.
Ability to travel if required.
Desired Skills:
Experience supporting F/A-18 aircraft, military aviation, naval aviation, aircraft sustainment, avionics, mission systems, or other complex defense systems.
Experience working in a Department of War, Navy, NAVAIR, defense contractor, or engineering-change environment.
Familiarity with configuration management, discrepancy reporting, root-cause analysis, change requests, and engineering review boards.
Experience with requirements-management, configuration-management, or systems-modeling tools.
Experience supporting laboratory, ground, integration, developmental, operational, or flight-test activities.
