Silverthorne Advisory Group is seeking a Financial Reconciliation SME to support financial management and modernization initiatives within the Department of War (DoW). This is a senior-level, highly collaborative role focused on financial reconciliation, cross-agency coordination, business-process analysis, and financial data integrity.
The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of financial operations and business processes, with the ability to work directly with accountants, financial personnel, component organizations, agencies, and Combatant Commands to identify issues, coordinate solutions, and improve enterprise financial accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a forward-facing financial liaison supporting DoW financial reconciliation and business-process initiatives.
- Leverage modern data and analytics platforms, including WDP/Advana, Foundry, and Databricks, to support financial analysis, reconciliation, and data-driven decision-making.
- Develop a strong understanding of General Ledger (GL) structures, feeder systems, Chart of Accounts, and financial data flows.
- Analyze feeder-system inputs and downstream financial impacts to identify discrepancies and support resolution.
- Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to define problems, establish resolution paths, and drive issues through completion.
- Support end-to-end reconciliation processes and help ensure financial data is accurate, complete, and defensible.
- Knowledge of Air Force financial systems, including DEAMS, GAFS, and WCF systems.
- Apply deep business-process knowledge to financial operations such as Inventory, Contracting, Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Accounts Payable (AP), Order-to-Cash (O2C), and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Facilitate meetings and working sessions with large, cross-functional stakeholder groups.
- Translate complex financial and business-process issues into clear recommendations and actionable next steps.
- Support organizations as they transition toward increased reconciliation ownership and engagement.
- Leverage modern data and analytics platforms, including WDP/Advana, Foundry, and Databricks, to support financial analysis, reconciliation, and data-driven decision-making.
- Collaborate with technical and functional teams to improve financial data quality, transparency, and enterprise alignment.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience serving as a forward-facing liaison with external organizations, agencies, or enterprise stakeholders.
- Accounts Receivable (AR)

- Experience with Databricks, War Data Platform (WDP)/Advana, and/or Palantir Foundry - strong familiarity with these technologies is highly preferred.
- Strong SQL experience, including querying, analyzing, transforming, and reconciling financial data.
- Experience working with DoD/Air Force financial data and General Ledger (GL) systems.
- Experience with financial data engineering, data integration, reconciliation, or financial analytics within a DoD or federal environment.
- Experience working with large, complex financial datasets and integrating data across multiple systems.
- Experience supporting financial data quality, reconciliation, reporting, and analysis.
- Deep understanding with DoD financial operations and business processes, including financial management, accounting, procurement, and related transaction processes.
- Public accounting, federal financial management, or other relevant financial data experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in complex, cross-functional environments.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
