Position Summary
SHR Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Cloud Application Developer to design, develop, modernize, integrate, and support secure, scalable cloud-native applications and services within the FEMA National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) PIVOT environment. This senior-level engineering role provides technical leadership for application development, integration, containerization, automation, cloud migration, and deployment across enterprise cloud environments. The position works across PIVOT delivery teams and the shared Systems/DevOps platform, collaborating with cloud architects, engineers, cybersecurity personnel, QA engineers, product owners, business analysts, data engineers, and other technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Salary Range 140,000 - 165,000 USD. The salary range represents a general guideline; SHR considers a number of factors when determining the base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Position Summary
SHR Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Cloud Application Developer to design, develop, modernize, integrate, and support secure, scalable cloud-native applications and services within the FEMA National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) PIVOT environment. This senior-level engineering role provides technical leadership for application development, integration, containerization, automation, cloud migration, and deployment across enterprise cloud environments. The position works across PIVOT delivery teams and the shared Systems/DevOps platform, collaborating with cloud architects, engineers, cybersecurity personnel, QA engineers, product owners, business analysts, data engineers, and other technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain complex cloud-native applications and microservices
- Develop backend services and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful architectures
- Design and implement microservices-based and event-driven architectures
- Develop and maintain containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
- Develop solutions leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and other approved cloud-native technologies.
- Modernize legacy applications for deployment within cloud and containerized environments.
- Develop and maintain integrations between applications, APIs, databases, and enterprise services.
- Implement automated application build, test, security scanning, and deployment processes using Harness CI/CD orchestration.
- Use Git, Maven/Gradle, Terraform, Harness, and related development and deployment tools.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and established enterprise standards.
- Integrate application security and code-quality tools such as Snyk and SonarQube into the development lifecycle.
- Apply Dapr / distributed application runtime technologies where appropriate to support scalable and resilient application architectures.
- Troubleshoot complex application, integration, container, and cloud deployment issues.
- Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to development, architecture, security, and coding standards.
- Support application performance optimization, scalability, reliability, and availability.
- Develop technical documentation, application designs, interface specifications, architecture diagrams, and deployment documentation.
- Work within Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps delivery environments.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and mid-level developers
- Collaborate with cloud architects, engineers, cybersecurity personnel, QA engineers, product owners, business analysts, data engineers, and other PIVOT teams throughout the SDLC.
Minimum Requirements:
- 7+ years of demonstrated professional experience in software engineering, application development, cloud development, or a closely related technical field.
- Advanced experience developing enterprise applications and services using Java/Spring Boot or comparable modern application-development technologies.
- Strong experience with REST APIs, microservices, application integration, and distributed systems.
- Demonstrated experience with Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift or comparable container orchestration platforms.
- Experience developing and deploying applications in GCP or another major public cloud platform, with the ability to apply cloud-native design principles.
- Experience with source-code management using Git and build/dependency management using Maven and/or Gradle.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment automation, and DevSecOps practices.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
- Experience troubleshooting complex application, cloud, integration, and deployment issues in production or enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical efforts, mentor engineers, and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and participating throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to produce clear technical documentation.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Advanced certifications such as GCP, Azure, AWS Cloud certifications; CISSP; advanced Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCIE).
Security Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain Public Trust. Active Public Trust is preferred. FEMA Public Trust is highly preferred.
Work Environment
- Remote.
- Candidates residing in the DC Metro Area preferred.
