Job Description
Our client is seeking a Senior TEMPEST Engineer for an upcoming proposal supporting the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Joint Program Office (JPO) Security Services Contract. The selected candidate will independently execute and oversee TEMPEST-related engineering efforts, provide technical guidance to government personnel and stakeholders, and support the protection of sensitive information systems and facilities from compromising emanations.
This senior-level position requires the ability to independently perform TEMPEST engineering functions and provide expert-level recommendations supporting mission-critical security initiatives. This position will be located in Arlington, VA. and is structured as a full-time, 40-hour-per-week role. An active DoD Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Required (SAR) eligibility/access is required.
This is a proposal position and is contingent upon contract award, customer approval, and final staffing authorization.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the principal TEMPEST engineering advisor for assigned security and technical-security initiatives.
• Independently perform TEMPEST engineering activities in support of F-35 JPO requirements.
• Evaluate information systems, communications systems, equipment, and facilities for compliance with applicable TEMPEST requirements and standards.
• Conduct technical assessments, risk analyses, and vulnerability evaluations associated with compromising emanations.
• Develop technical recommendations, mitigation strategies, and corrective actions to address identified risks.
• Support TEMPEST inspections, testing, accreditation, and certification activities.
• Review engineering designs, facility configurations, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with security requirements.
• Coordinate with security professionals, engineers, program offices, and external stakeholders to resolve technical security issues.
• Prepare and present technical reports, briefings, analyses, and recommendations to government leadership.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and subject matter expertise to junior and mid-level engineers and security personnel.
• Support program planning, execution, and documentation efforts associated with technical-security programs.
• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, threats, and TEMPEST best practices affecting Department of Defense systems and facilities.
Required Qualifications
• Senior-level experience consistent with labor category requirements, including a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience performing work related to the functional responsibilities of the position.
• Master's degree in a relevant discipline; or Bachelor's degree plus four additional years of directly related experience may be substituted for a Master's degree. Degrees must be obtained from an accredited college or university.
• Demonstrated ability to independently execute TEMPEST engineering activities and provide subject matter expertise.
• Experience supporting Department of Defense, federal government, or national security programs.
• Ability to develop technical analyses, recommendations, reports, and briefings for senior leadership.
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Active DoD Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Required (SAR) eligibility/access is required.
• Will be required to sign Letter of Intent.
Preferred Qualifications
• Certified TEMPEST Professional (CTP) or equivalent technical-security certification.
• Experience supporting aircraft, defense acquisition, or major weapon-system programs.
• Knowledge of National Security Agency (NSA), Department of Defense (DoD), and Intelligence Community TEMPEST policies and guidance.
• Experience supporting secure facilities, SCIFs, SAP facilities, or classified information systems.
• Experience conducting TEMPEST assessments, inspections, testing, or accreditation activities.
• Prior support to the F-35 program, Joint Program Office, or related defense programs.
