Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting investigations to detect and apprehend individuals violating the law; providing guidance to law enforcement personnel on duties on investigative duties; and coordinating with other law enforcement agencies to gather facts and evidence on current investigations to arrest. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

- Possess arrest and apprehension authority, and is required to carry a firearm in the performance of duties.
- Provide supervisory guidance to assigned military detectives performing a leadership role.
- Conduct long term investigations of complex, sensitive, and controversial violations (actual or potential) of criminal law and the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice), involving persons and property.
- Arrange for assistance from subordinate and other investigators/law enforcement personnel (including CID, FBI, and local agencies).
- Coordinate and reviews investigative efforts of personnel assigned to particular cases.
- Perform monthly reviews of case folders to verify investigations are progressing in a timely and thorough manner, and ensures bi-weekly quality reviews of folders are completed per AR 190-45.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban (Lautenberg Amendment). This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- Position requires skill in the use of authorized firearms (qualification and recertification in accordance with Army Standard Qualifications requirements). Incumbent must successfully complete semi-annual qualification on his or her assigned weapon.
- Must be able to be qualified and certified in the use of chemical aerosol irritants, tear gas, radar gun and breathalyzer equipment.
- Incumbent must be able to be medically cleared and take and pass a physical agility test within one year of hire and every 12 months commensurate with the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with AR 190-56.
- Incumbent may, as appropriate, be required to wear the prescribed uniform.
- Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment in case of Hazardous/chemical incident (respirators, safety glasses, etc.).
- May be required to attend and successfully complete the Department of the Army Civilian Police Academy.
- Must be able to maintain qualification for the Individual Reliability Program in accordance with AR 190-56.
