Data Engineer - Functional Area Analyst II
Onsite in Alexandria, VA
Open to US Citizens who hold a Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
Required Skills:
SQL, Python; Excel/PowerPoint; Advanced Analytics (NLP, statistical modeling, predictive modeling, optimization, machine learning)
Four (4) years of experience in at least one (1) of the following areas:
Military or operations research-related field (e.g., U.S. current military operations, munitions, readiness, and deployment routines covering air/space, ground, special operations, and maritime domains).
Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE).
Force / capability development.
Intelligence collection and analysis.
Four (4) years of experience working with DoD stakeholders to collect, maintain, and refine complex datasets and will possess adeptness in interfacing with clients and expertise in Structured Query Language (SQL).
Preferred Skills:
Database management/engineer; DoD experience; strong written and oral communication; comfortable with daily interactions with senior leaders in a military setting; understanding of military rank structure across services
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
The Data Engineering team is responsible for providing advanced data engineering, analytics, and visualization capabilities on an ad hoc & long-term duration for GS-13-SES level clients who solve complex problems from across the DoD. Daily activities vary based on client priorities, but may include anything from extracting, transforming and loading large and complex data sets to wire-framing and developing visualizations to managing and engineering large datasets/databases, and communicating key findings to clients. Overall, this individual must be able to perform core data engineering tasks, conduct data analysis, communicate complex issues & ideas in easy-to-understand language and visuals, and be willing to quickly learn new technical skillsets and DoW domain knowledge.
