Position Summary
PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Equipment Technician to join our manufacturing operations team in Clearwater, Florida. This role is responsible for monitoring, evaluating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the performance of manufacturing equipment used in the Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) production process. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with electronics manufacturing equipment and possess strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Working closely with Production leadership and Product, Process, Quality, and Test Engineering teams, you will play a critical role in ensuring optimal equipment performance, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

High School diploma or equivalent with additional specialized technical training comparable to a Technical Associate Degree and demonstrated ability to perform technical or para-engineering tasks, plus 10 years of related experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, evaluate, and improve the performance of manufacturing equipment and machinery.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Diagnose equipment failures and replace defective components and modules.
- Interpret and utilize schematics, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, manuals, and work instructions.
- Support production operations through immediate repair response and equipment recovery.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, and inventory records.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic/test equipment safely and effectively.
- Collaborate with Production, Process Engineering, Quality, Product Engineering, and Test Engineering teams to resolve equipment-related issues.
- Recommend and implement process and equipment improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Assist in estimating labor requirements and equipment-related costs as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant technical experience in manufacturing equipment maintenance and repair.
- General knowledge and experience using mechanical hand tools and soldering equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills involving process, product, and procedural issues.
- AOI experience and SMT experience is required.
- Working knowledge of:
- Electronics
- Pneumatics
- Hydraulics
- Mechanical systems and operations
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, diagrams, and schematics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including potential weekend work and first or second shift assignments.
- Ability to work in an environment that may require handling or exposure to manufacturing chemicals.
Candidates must successfully complete and demonstrate proficiency in:
- All Manufacturing Training Programs
- PWB Handling
- First Piece Certification
- Component Identification
- ESD (Electrostatic Discharge)
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in a technical discipline or vocational/technical certification program.
- Experience with:
- MyCronic Pick-and-Place (PnP) equipment
- Universal Instruments Pick-and-Place (PnP) equipment
- Koh Young and/or YesTech AOI systems
- SMT CCA Inline-Wash equipment
- MPM Screen Printers
- Experience supporting electronics manufacturing and SMT production environments.
