Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Effort: Work requires standing on hard surfaces maintaining balance for extended periods of time. Requires pushing, pulling, and depressing various hand and foot controls which require bending, stooping, reaching, and twisting in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds; may lift greater weights with assistance.
Working Conditions: Work is performed within a warehousing environment. Work is usually performed inside. Poor lighting conditions may exist in some areas. Occasionally required to work outdoors to move items between warehouses in areas that are hot, cold, drafty, or damp. When working outdoors, the employee is subject to prevailing weather conditions such as heat, cold, wind, and rain. Some exposure to dust, grease, dirt, solvents, and fumes. Individual is exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, and abrasions. Working conditions are a normal part of the job and are considered in the evaluation of the position. Works on hard surfaces and regularly requires standing, stooping, bending, reaching, stretching, pushing, and pulling. Work is performed at a relatively steady pace with an occasional requirement encountered to work rapidly to meet specific deadlines.Safety and Health Requirements: Employee is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the job and work area where assigned. Types of protective clothing and equipment include, but are not limited to, the following: safety eyeglasses, respirators, and steel-toed shoes and protective clothing such as gloves, mask, apron, and coveralls. Other types may be required as deemed necessary by authorized management officials.

Drug-Free Workplace Policy
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing.
Applicants tentatively selected for employment in testing designated positions will undergo a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Refusal to undergo testing or testing positive for illegal drugs will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and a six-month denial of employment with DLA from the date of the drug test. Employees in drug testing designated positions are subject to random drug testing. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). - Directs employees engaged in various distribution processes such as receiving, picking, packing, and stowing.
- Evaluates work for effectiveness and the economical use of personnel, materials, and methods to meet production goals.
- Manages administrative duties, including approving leave, identifying training needs, and ensuring participation in management programs like safety and quality assurance.
- Establishes deadlines, sets priorities, and coordinates with other supervisors.
- Operates MHE such as forklifts (with a capacity of up to 10,000 pounds), warehouse tractors, and stock selectors.
- Ensures all safety and security practices are implemented and followed in accordance with OSHA and DLA standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
