We have an exciting opportunity for a Spaceflight Structural Hardware Systems Engineer to join the team!

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
  • Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 5- 10 years of related experience. License and certification may be required.
  • Have provided mechanical design support in the NASA JSC Flight Hardware process
  • Have provided mechanical system engineering support on multiple flight hardware projects with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication across multiple disciplines
  • Knowledge and work experience in a Systems Engineering role in a NASA, DoD, or Aerospace environment
  • Senior level experience with requirements management, verification and validation definition and execution, design trades, risk analysis, and system analysis of space hardware
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and Microsoft Office products

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS
  • Senior level working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices and requirements including safety, fault tolerance, and unique disciplines
  • Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases and share point sites as well as typical systems engineering software products
  • Experience in technical and team leadership roles


RESPONSIBILITES
  • Lead the planning, development, review, and maintenance of requirements and verification plans in the NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes
  • Prepare and present presentation materials for the system life cycle phasing, including SRR (System Readiness Review), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR)
  • Work with team members to identify risks, develop risk statements, and to help them plan risk responses
  • Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall system design and performance
  • Utilize requirements management software and systems engineering tool such as DOORS, Cradle or Jama
  • Create and manage requirements for various projects - including flow down from NASA Program to contractor Project through verification closeout as well as interface definition between subsystems
  • Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and raise issues
  • Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors
  • Perform other tasks assigned
