Job Description

Overview

Working across the globe, V2X builds smart solutions designed to integrate physical and digital infrastructure from base to battlefield. We bring 120 years of successful mission support to improve security, streamline logistics, and enhance readiness. Aligned around a shared purpose, our $4.5B company and 16,000 people work alongside our clients, here and abroad, to tackle their most complex challenges with integrity, respect, responsibility, and professionalism.

The Electronics Technician IV provides advanced technical support for the testing, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of complex microwave RF, analog, and digital electronic systems used in high-reliability aerospace and defense applications.

This position works with minimal supervision and serves as a technical lead within an assigned laboratory or work area. The Electronics Technician IV performs complex component-level fault isolation, proactively coordinates priorities and workflow, and supports program schedule and efficiency objectives. The position provides technical guidance and task assignments to other team members but does not have formal supervisory responsibility or direct reports.

The Electronics Technician IV may also serve as a calibration coordinator, security coordinator, or technical point of contact for assigned laboratory or test areas.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex fault isolation and component-level troubleshooting on RF, microwave, analog, and digital electronic assemblies and subsystems.
  • Read and interpret schematics, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, test procedures, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Determine required corrective actions and perform authorized adjustments, alignments, calibrations, and functional verification.
  • Set up and operate RF/microwave and general-purpose electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, power meters, frequency counters, digital multimeters, function generators, and logic analyzers.
  • Use computer-based test systems, automated data-acquisition tools, configuration-management applications, ERP/CMMS systems, and standard business software.
  • Support the integration and modification of electronic modules, power supplies, control circuitry, and associated cables and harnesses.
  • Perform limited teardown and reassembly necessary to access assemblies, install or remove line-replaceable units, and verify equipment operation.
  • Coordinate daily laboratory or work-area activities, including workload priorities, task assignments, workstation organization, equipment availability, and area readiness.
  • Assign and balance work among team members based on program priorities, employee skill levels, available resources, and required completion dates.
  • Monitor work orders, testing, and repair activities; identify schedule, staffing, material, or equipment risks and communicate them proactively to engineering and management.
  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance, mentoring, and on-the-job training to less-experienced technicians.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for technicians, engineering, production, program management, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure test data, failure analyses, repair actions, and configuration changes are recorded accurately in applicable logs and electronic systems.
  • Provide technical input for discrepancy reports, nonconformance documentation, corrective actions, test procedures, and process improvements.
  • Promote compliance with safety, quality, ESD, RF exposure, high-voltage, security, configuration-management, and export-control requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits, inspections, and continuous-improvement activities.
  • May serve as the calibration or security coordinator for one or more laboratory areas.
  • Understand basic budget constraints involving labor, consumables, equipment use, and maintenance. Identify and escalate conditions likely to exceed established budgets or funding limits.
  • Work primarily in electronics laboratories, test areas, and production or maintenance environments, including secure or restricted-access areas.
  • Safely work around energized RF equipment, high-voltage systems, and sensitive electronic assemblies while using required PPE and ESD controls.
  • Frequently stand, walk, use hand tools, and work at benches or test stations. Duties may require bending, kneeling, reaching into equipment, using a ladder or step stool, and pushing or pulling carts and test fixtures.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, or move electronic assemblies, tools, and test equipment weighing up to 35-40 pounds.
  • Work overtime, alternate shifts, or weekends when necessary to support program schedules and mission requirements.

Qualifications

Education / Experience Required:
  • Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, related field; completion of a recognized military or vocational electronics technician program with 4+ years experience OR High school diploma/ GED with 6 years experience.
  • Hands-on electronics technician experience, including at least two years working with RF/microwave, radar-related, or comparably complex electronic systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex RF, analog, and digital electronic systems to the component level.
  • Experience planning and conducting test activities, including test setup, data collection, results interpretation, and operational verification.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or another high-reliability or mission-critical environment.
  • Strong knowledge of RF and microwave principles and components, including filters, amplifiers, mixers, couplers, waveguides, and related devices.
  • In-depth knowledge of analog and digital electronics, including discrete components, integrated circuits, logic circuits, and power supplies.
  • Proficiency with RF/microwave and general-purpose electronic test instruments and structured fault-isolation methods.
  • Ability to develop or refine test procedures and contribute to improvements in test methods, workflow, and area efficiency.
  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities, coordinate concurrent activities, and respond proactively to program schedule requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction, assign work, mentor less-experienced employees, and promote a collaborative work environment.
  • Strong organizational, written communication, verbal communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with calibration processes, laboratory security requirements, configuration management, and ISO, AS9100, or similar quality-management systems preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP, CMMS, test automation, data-acquisition, and configuration-management systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required equipment, calibration-coordination, site-access, or customer certifications.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance as required by contract.
  • Commitment to safety, security, quality, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement.

Benefits include the following:
  • Healthcare coverage
  • Retirement plan
  • Life insurance, AD&D, and disability benefits
  • Wellness programs
  • Paid time off, including holidays
