Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist (Security):
Applicant must have one year of directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by providing oversight with Communications Security (COMSEC) requisitioning, receiving, controlling, shipping, and destroying cryptographic material; conducting COMSEC material inventories and ensuring customer requirements for COMSEC are on-hand to fulfill mission requirements; assisting other Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) Operation Account Manager (KOAM) in developing & conducting COMSEC training for organizational hand receipt holders; and providing oversight and technical direction to hand receipt holders.
My specialized experience includes, or was supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others.

- Requisitions, receives, controls, ships, and destroys cryptographic material.
- Provides oversight and policy development for all organizational communications security (COMSEC) to prevent unauthorized disclosure of or access.
- Serves as the secure telephone representative for electronic COMSEC keys ordered, received, and issued through the Key Management Infrastructure Operational Account Manager platform.
- Establishes investigation procedures and takes immediate action on reports of any insecurity involving COMSEC material or equipment.
- Provides guidance to investigating officers and monitors the progress of any investigation to ensure all requirements are met.
- Plans, organizes and directs long-range studies for COMSEC systems requirements. Develops methods and techniques, which enhance the efficiency and capabilities of COMSEC systems.
- Develops methods and techniques, to enhance the efficiency and capabilities of COMSEC systems.
- Provides technical advice and performs analytical, procedural and assistance work on all COMSEC matters.
- Provides oversight and technical direction to hand receipt holders.

- This position requires the completion of a CENTCOM pre-employment Physical Examination and annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 30% of the time.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- Travel to overseas locations may require specific immunizations and training/certification IAW US Army South and Department of the Army Personnel Recovery policies.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
- This position requires completing appropriate training/certification/recertification per DOW Publication 8140.03 and supplemental Army guidance, for each Cyber work role.
- Cyber work role certification proficiency level requirements: Foundational qualification within 9 months; Residential qualification requirements within 12 months; and 20 hours of Continuous Professional Development.
- Must pass and be certified in TRADOC ad Standardized COMSEC, COMSEC Account Managers, Management Client and Key Management Infrastructure courses within 6 months of hire.
