Location: Remote – Virginia | Candidates should preferably reside within approximately 60–100 miles of Warrenton, VA

Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; active Secret clearance preferred

Position Overview

SDA Solutions, LLC is seeking a Mid-Level Network Engineer to support the engineering, migration, implementation, and ongoing operation of enterprise network security services. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated technical professional capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.

This role requires hands-on experience with next-generation firewalls and enterprise network security technologies, including SASE/SSE platforms, network visibility, and microsegmentation technologies within large, multi-tenant environments.

This position is primarily remote. Candidates should preferably reside within approximately 60–100 miles of Warrenton, Virginia, to accommodate occasional onsite requirements as needed.

Responsibilities

Design, deploy, configure, and maintain cloud and on-premises network security solutions, including Palo Alto NGFW, Panorama/Strata Cloud Manager, Prisma Access, GlobalProtect, Juniper SRX, Gigamon visibility components, ExtraHop sensors, Illumio Virtual Enforcement Nodes, and related policy and automation tools.

Maintain the integrity and security of enterprise network infrastructure, including Palo Alto firewalls and management platforms, Juniper SRX, Gigamon TA/HC platforms, ExtraHop appliances, F5, and supporting infrastructure.

Execute day-to-day implementation activities supporting service transitions, takeovers, and phased migrations.

Perform inventory and re-baselining of firewall and tunnel policies.

Support GlobalProtect and Prisma Access policy changes.

Support Gigamon/ExtraHop installation and feed validation.

Support Illumio visibility deployments.

Assist with AlgoSec-driven policy cleanup.

Create, maintain, and update network diagrams, user guides, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), runbooks, and other technical documentation.

Support and develop automation for configuration, validation, and reporting activities.

Maintain and expand knowledge of core network security technologies, including Palo Alto, Juniper, Gigamon/ExtraHop, Illumio, F5, and AlgoSec.

Monitor and improve existing and newly deployed solutions.

Participate in phased agency rollouts under the direction of Principal and Lead Engineers.

Work across technical teams and external customer groups to implement solutions and support infrastructure build-outs.

Handle escalated technical issues and provide assessments, recommendations, troubleshooting, and solutions.

Provide coaching and technical guidance to less-experienced professionals when appropriate.

Coordinate the acquisition of hardware, software, and subcontractor services as required.

Participate in on-call rotations based on management and customer requirements.

Required Qualifications

BA/BS degree or equivalent relevant experience.

3+ years of experience with Next Generation Firewalls and enterprise network security technologies.

Strong knowledge of networking technologies, including routing, firewalls, and switching.

Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks technologies, including:

Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW)

Panorama and/or Strata Cloud Manager

Prisma Access

GlobalProtect

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated experience delivering presentations and technical briefings to diverse audiences at varying organizational levels.

Strong technical documentation skills and documentation discipline.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Must possess, or be able to obtain within six months of hire, an applicable Intermediate DoW 8140 or DoW 8570 certification, such as Security+ CE, CySA+, or equivalent.

U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Active Secret security clearance.

Palo Alto Networks certifications; PCNSE preferred.

Hands-on experience with Prisma Access and GlobalProtect.

Juniper SRX experience.

Exposure to Illumio, Gigamon, ExtraHop, or AlgoSec.

F5 experience.

Familiarity with Cisco ACI/Nexus.

Experience with SASE/SSE platforms, network visibility technologies, and microsegmentation.

Experience operating within large, multi-tenant enterprise environments.
