Location: Remote – Virginia | Candidates should preferably reside within approximately 60–100 miles of Richmond, VA

Position Overview
SDA Solutions, LLC is seeking a Junior Network Engineer to support the engineering, migration, and operation of enterprise network security services. This position is ideal for a self-motivated professional who can work effectively both independently and as part of a larger technical team in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.
The successful candidate will have experience with next-generation firewalls and enterprise network security technologies and will support a large, multi-tenant environment utilizing technologies such as Palo Alto, Juniper, Gigamon, ExtraHop, Illumio, F5, and AlgoSec.
This position is primarily remote. Candidates should preferably reside within approximately 60–100 miles of Richmond, Virginia, to support occasional onsite requirements as needed.
Responsibilities
Configure and maintain cloud and on-premises network security solutions, including Palo Alto NGFW, Panorama/Strata Cloud Manager, Prisma Access, GlobalProtect, Juniper SRX, Gigamon visibility components, ExtraHop sensors, Illumio Virtual Enforcement Nodes, and related policy and automation tools.
Help maintain the integrity and security of enterprise network infrastructure, including Palo Alto firewalls and management platforms, Juniper SRX, Gigamon TA/HC platforms, ExtraHop appliances, F5, and supporting infrastructure.
Create, maintain, and update technical documentation, including network diagrams, user guides, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and runbooks.
Support the development and use of automation for configuration, validation, and reporting activities.
Maintain and expand technical knowledge of core network security technologies, including Palo Alto, Juniper, Gigamon/ExtraHop, Illumio, F5, and AlgoSec.
Monitor and help improve existing and newly deployed solutions.
Participate in phased agency rollouts under the direction of Principal and Lead Engineers.
Collaborate across technical teams and external customer groups to implement solutions and support infrastructure build-outs.
Support escalated technical issues by assisting with assessments, recommendations, troubleshooting, and solutions.
Participate in on-call rotations based on management and customer requirements.
Required Qualifications
BA/BS degree or equivalent relevant experience.
2+ years of experience with Next Generation Firewalls and enterprise network security technologies.
Working knowledge of networking technologies, including routing, firewalls, and switching.
Experience with Palo Alto Networks technologies, including:
Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW)
Panorama and/or Strata Cloud Manager
Prisma Access
GlobalProtect
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to deliver presentations and technical briefings to audiences at varying levels of an organization.
Strong technical documentation skills and attention to documentation standards.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Must possess, or be able to obtain within six months of hire, an applicable Intermediate DoW 8140 or DoW 8570 certification, such as Security+ CE, CySA+, or equivalent.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Active Secret security clearance.
Palo Alto Networks certifications; PCNSE preferred.
Hands-on experience with Prisma Access and GlobalProtect.
Experience with Juniper SRX.
Exposure to Illumio, Gigamon, ExtraHop, or AlgoSec.
Experience with F5 technologies.
Familiarity with Cisco ACI/Nexus.
Experience working with SASE/SSE platforms, network visibility technologies, or microsegmentation technologies.
Experience supporting large, multi-tenant enterprise environments.
