Job Description
THOR Solutions is actively seeking an experienced Shipboard Electrical Technician with U.S. Navy shipboard experience to provide full-time support for U.S. Naval shipboard auxiliary equipment at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, VA.
Typical Responsibilities: The candidate's responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) performing or supporting the following actions:
Typical Physical Activity: Mix of desk/computer work in an office environment and visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: repetitive motion, traversing shipboard environments (e.g. confined spaces, ladders, hatches), or vision.
Travel: Up to 10% travel is anticipated.
Typical Pay Range: The anticipated pay for this position in the identified location(s) is $37.68/hour. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience. This position is covered under the Service Contract Act (SCA) and will additionally receive $5.09/hour in "health and welfare" benefits.
Existing SECRET Security Clearance Required: This position requires an existing active or interim Secret security clearance prior to hire. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance; therefore, only current U.S. citizens will be considered for this position. A candidate without a clearance but with highly relevant experience may be considered, but still must obtain a clearance prior to hire.
Required Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

- Monthly Status Reports

Required Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- A high school diploma, GED equivalent, or a relevant U.S. Navy technical school diploma/certification.
- At least Five (5) years of relevant electrical experience in the operation, repair, maintenance and assessment of U.S. Naval auxiliary equipment to include but not limited to:
- Fire Pumps, Fuel Pumps, Lube Oil Pumps, Sea Water Pumps, Condensate Pumps, Potable Water Pumps, Main SW Circulating Pumps, Distilling Plants (Evaporators & Reverse Osmosis), Main Drainage Systems, Sewage Systems, Solid Waste Equipment, Oily Water Separators, Condensers/Heat Exchangers, and all associated valves/piping/equipment.
- Demonstrated experience working in the official capacity of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the aforementioned systems/equipment/components for a US Navy Engineering Activity, US Navy Shipboard Engineering Department, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), or industrial/commercial equivalent.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, visit processes and reporting methods for visits.
- Demonstrated experience using accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment.
- Demonstrate experience interpreting wiring diagrams and control schematics.
- Proficiency with common productivity software including the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
