Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or equivalent in the Federal Service which includes: (1) Work dealing with Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass. (2) Maintaining order and protecting life and engaging in work with protective systems and techniques. (3) Operate and perform research queries on the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) workstation terminal(s) in accordance with (IAW) federal and state laws.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
Education

- Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
- Incumbent must be assessed under the Individual Reliability Program IAW AR 190-56.
- Individual agrees to submit to a urinalysis on a recurring basis, in accordance with (IAW) AR 600-85.
- Shift work or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
- Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability.
- Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
- Incumbent must successfully complete CPR certification and First Aid training to include Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
- Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
- Incumbent will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT). Failure to meet the standards after the second attempt within a ninety-day period will result in separation.
- Incumbent must be fully qualified to operate a government vehicle. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Loss of license may result in removal from the position.
- Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
- Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
- Must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
- Must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT: Must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility at the Secret level using a Tier 3 background investigation.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
