Job Description Summary:
The Senior Mechanical CAD Designer creates designs and technical drawings for fixturing & test equipment. They work closely with engineers and other professionals to create and improve manufacturing systems or processes and develop drawings for a wide variety of machines. Mechanical CAD designer reviews specifications and other data to develop mechanical layouts.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is
$38.00 - $66.59
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
- Prepare calculations on the proposed machine before completing technical drawings.
- Sketch and draw up designs using input from engineers and architects on the team.
- Calculate factors like tolerance, dimensions, and thermal and structural analysis.
- Create designs in line with company procedure, regulations and client standards.
- Submit drawings to upper management and construction teams.
- Provide support during the building and installation process, ensuring that the equipment is built properly and according to design specifications.
- Finalize designs and send prints to the production department.
- Serve as a mentor to junior staff.
Skills/Abilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Deep CAD knowledge.
- Strong computer and mathematical skills.
- Strong SolidWorks and/or CREO skills.
- Knowledge of 3DX Product Lifecycle Management tool.
- Possess strong organizational skills.
- Excellent planning and time management skills.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-31000.
- Strong understanding of ANSI Y14.5 dimensioning & tolerancing.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Team player able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Education
- Requires a Technical or Associate's degree in drafting, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing engineering or other relevant field.
Experience
- Requires 10+ years of experience designing in 3D CAD and producing 2D drawings using SolidWorks and/or CREO.
- Work experience in a defense contracting environment is preferred.
