Job Description

Design to Protect Our Electronics

We are looking for mechanical designers who want to be a part of our team designing remote piloted aircraft. You will be rewarded with the satisfaction of seeing your design go from concept to realized hardware in our in-house manufacturing facility and then onto the aircraft itself.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Be responsible for the packaging design of airborne electronics.
  • Ensure that the electronics will survive in harsh environments and that your design meets a defined set of requirements.
  • Work closely with manufacturing to make sure that your designs have a high yield rate in production.
  • Work with our analysis team to reduce risk before your design goes to test.
  • Present your designs to your peers, management, and stakeholders to gather feedback.
  • Work on multiple projects at a time.
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Validates conformity to design standards and specifications and identifies design errors and other deficiencies, and recommends changes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned such as sustaining, change management, drafting.
  • May direct the efforts of less experienced designers and drafters.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

  • Typically requires an Associates degree or a certificate from a recognized organization indicating completion of training in ProEngineer, CATIA or IDEAS design software plus thirteen or more years of progressive experience utilizing CAD software with at least five of those years spent utilizing ProEngineer, CATIA, IDEAS or related engineering design software. Additional education may be substituted in lieu of work experience. 
  • May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
  • Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more design areas. May represent the group to internal or external customers.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
