Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)
- Modernizing FEMA GO Applications Location: Washington, DC (100% Onsite, Local to DMV) | Clearance: DHS EOD PT Required (Up to TS SCI) About the Role Join a dynamic, agile program focused on modernizing mission-critical FEMA GO emergency alert applications. As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you will play a pivotal role in driving quality through advanced automation, hands-on coding, and process improvement. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, accessible, and high-performance solutions that directly impact public safety and emergency response. Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain robust test automation frameworks using Selenium WebDriver/Grid and modern scripting languages.
- Design, code, and execute automated tests for functional, regression, API, integration, and performance scenarios.
- Identify, analyze, and troubleshoot complex software defects-leveraging log analysis and root-cause identification to ensure seamless defect resolution.
- Collaborate in Agile/Scrum teams with developers, BAs, Product Owners, and DevSecOps engineers to foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
- Conduct thorough UI/UX, Section 508/WCAG accessibility, and data validation testing on data-intensive applications.
- Integrate automated tests within CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket; contribute to DevSecOps best practices.
- Document clear, actionable defect reports and contribute to process enhancements that elevate software quality.
- Engage in AI-assisted testing and development initiatives (bonus). Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years in automation testing, plus 3+ years in manual testing.
- Proficiency in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python for test scripting and automation.
- Hands-on expertise with Selenium Grid/WebDriver, Cucumber/Gherkin, Jasmine/Protractor, JUnit, TestNG.
- Experience with relational databases, test data management, and validation rules.
- Demonstrated knowledge of UI/UX and Section 508 compliance testing.
- Deep familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira, Serena Business Manager, HP QC.
- Strong communication skills for documentation, defect reporting, and technical discussions.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain DHS EOD clearance (background and credit check required). Preferred Skills
- Experience with AI-assisted testing tools or processes.
- Familiarity with Docker and DevSecOps pipelines.
