Information System Security Officer (ISSO) - TS/SCI
Position Overview
Seeking a mid-level Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to support multiple networks and cybersecurity teams within a USSTRATCOM environment. This role is heavily focused on Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities, vulnerability management, compliance documentation, and supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) packages.
This is not a general cybersecurity position. Candidates must have direct, hands-on RMF experience and a demonstrated history of performing ISSO duties within DoD environments.
Primary Responsibilities
• Execute daily RMF activities in support of multiple networks and systems.
• Develop, maintain, and update ATO packages for USSTRATCOM-supported systems.
• Perform security control assessments and compliance documentation.
• Conduct vulnerability management activities and track remediation efforts.
• Review, research, and document security findings and recommendations.
• Manage and validate STIG compliance requirements.
• Partner with ISSMs, system owners, and cybersecurity teams to identify and mitigate risk.
• Evaluate risks across supported environments and provide recommendations to command leadership.
• Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies and workforce requirements.
Required Experience
• Direct experience supporting the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).
• Experience developing, maintaining, or supporting ATO packages.
• Strong understanding of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
• Experience with vulnerability management processes.
• Experience researching, documenting, and tracking security-related findings.
• Ability to assess risk and provide recommendations to leadership.
• Experience working within classified DoD environments.
