HPC Systems Administrator (TS/SCI Cleared)
Location: Onsite
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI
Work Environment: Secure classified facility (SCIF)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HPC Systems Administrator to support and maintain a large-scale High Performance Computing (HPC) environment within a secure government setting. This position is ideal for a Linux systems administrator with deep HPC experience who enjoys managing complex environments, maintaining security compliance, supporting mission-critical operations, and mentoring less experienced administrators.
This is a hands-on role focused on system administration, cluster operations, security maintenance, upgrades, and knowledge transfer. Hardware break/fix support is handled by a separate team, allowing you to focus on administration and optimization of the HPC environment.
What You'll Do
• Administer and support a large HPC cluster in a production environment.
• Monitor system health, performance, and availability.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute operating system and infrastructure upgrades.
• Maintain security compliance and implement required security controls.
• Respond to user requests and troubleshoot system-related issues.
• Manage production systems and support security hardening efforts.
• Utilize HPC management tools to administer and monitor the environment.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure platform stability.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to customer system administrators.
• Mentor and train administrators on troubleshooting methodologies and operational processes.
• Work independently while leveraging support from a broader technical team.
Required Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI Security Clearance
• CompTIA Security+ Certification
• CompTIA Linux+ Certification
• 10+ years of experience supporting HPC environments
• Strong Linux Systems Administration experience
• Experience supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments
• Ability to troubleshoot complex HPC issues independently
• Experience planning and implementing system upgrades
• Experience maintaining secure, compliant computing environments
• Strong communication skills with the ability to train and mentor others
Education & Experience
• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field plus 5+ years of professional experience
OR
• 7+ years of relevant professional experience in lieu of a master's degree
Preferred Qualifications
• Data center operations experience
• Experience supporting highly secure or classified environments
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
• Familiarity with enterprise hardware platforms and infrastructure environments
• Experience working alongside multi-disciplinary operations teams
