Lead Senior Collaboration Platform Designer

We are seeking a Lead Senior Collaboration Platform Designer with strong, hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting Google and Microsoft Collaboration at enterprise scale. This position will lead the collaboration platform modernization and Operational initiatives.
This position requires real-world, operational experience. While certifications are valued, demonstrated hands-on experience designing, deploying, automating, migrating, and supporting Google and Microsoft collaboration platform workloads in production environments carries more weight.

Experience supporting the design, governance, and day-to-day operations of Google and Microsoft is a core part of this role, directly supporting the Department's collaboration Platform management task area.

Location: Washington, DC 20590 (onsite with remote potential)
Type: 6 month contract to hire
Clearance: Must be Public Trust eligible

Due to federal security clearance requirements, the applicant must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident with an active Public Trust clearance. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Job Role Specific Requirements:
Google and Microsoft Collaboration Administration & Operations
• Administer and support Google (Workspace, Sites and Drive and Microsoft (SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive)
• Manage site configurations, permissions, and sharing using least privilege principles
• Configure and maintain collaboration governance: external sharing, retention, sensitivity labels, and lifecycle policies
• Monitor platform health, service health, usage and reporting using Google and Microsoft Admin centers
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and manage problem resolution to SLA
• Support environments across development, test, and production tenants

Platform Development & Automation
• Design, build, and maintain business solutions using the Google and Microsoft Platform:
o Looker Studio Reporting
o Power Apps (canvas and model-driven apps)
o Dataverse and SharePoint lists as data sources
• Automate business processes and workflows using:
o Google Platform Tools
o Power Automate (cloud flows)
o Power Automate (desktop flows / RPA)
o Approvals and event-driven workflows
o Business process and forms automation (Power Apps / SharePoint forms)
• Build Collaboration dashboards and reports for operational and SLA reporting
• Reduce manual effort through standardized, reusable components and automation
Collaboration Platform Migration & Modernization
• Manage Support collaboration platform migration initiatives, including:
o Microsoft on prem to Microsoft/Google Cloud
o Microsoft 365 migrations
o Cutovers, post-migration validation, and stabilization
o Migration planning and execution
o Content, site, and dependency analysis
o Document library, list, and workflow migrations
Governance, Integration & Identity
• Manage the Integration of Google and Microsoft collaboration services with enterprise systems such as:
o Identity platforms (Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD, Active Directory, SSO)
o Line-of-business and SaaS applications
o Third-party migration and governance tooling (e.g., Sharegate, Metalogix, AvePoint)
o Microsoft Graph, REST APIs, and connectors
o Security, networking, and application teams
o Collaboration governance, naming, and lifecycle standards
Application & End-User Support
• Manage solutions deployed on:
o Google (Workspace and sites) and Microsoft SharePoint
o Google Meet and Microsoft Teams
o Google Looker/Sheets and Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps / Power Automate)
o Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive
o Manage business teams and developers with:
o Site and environment provisioning
o Deployment and release of apps and flows
o Performance, reliability, and adoption tuning
o Review solution designs for scalability, security, compliance, and supportability
Reporting & Analytics (Strong Plus)
• Support reporting and analytics capabilities such as:
o Google Looker and Power BI dashboards and reports
o Google and Microsoft usage and adoption reporting
o Google Workspace/Sites/Meet and Microsoft SharePoint/Teams analytics
o Google Dataverse / SharePoint list data sources
o Dashboards, KPIs, and SLA / Incident and problem-management reporting
o Collaboration data governance, access controls, and performance tuning
Required skills and qualifications:
• Active public trust and/or DOT onboard is a strong plus
• 8+ years of hands-on experience designing and supporting platforms in production environments
• Experience managing and supporting collaboration services, including:
o Google Workspace Collaboration Tools (Gmail, Sites, Drive, Meet, Forms, etc.)
o SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and Microsoft 365 Groups
o Governance, permissions, and lifecycle management
o Google Gemini, AppSheet, Workspace studio, Looker, Sheets
o Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
o Migrations (on-prem SharePoint → SharePoint Online and/or tenant-to-tenant)
o Google Cloud CLI and PowerShell for Automation and administration
o Incident, problem management, quality assurance, and SLA analysis
o Troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills; able to work independently while collaborating across teams

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
• Experience with Google Collaboration platform at scale
• Experience with the Power Platform at scale (model-driven apps, Dataverse, solution/ALM management)
• Experience with workflow/forms automation using Power Automate at enterprise scale
• Experience with Microsoft Graph, Azure, and custom app integration with Teams/SharePoint
• Experience supporting enterprise identity integrations (Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD, SSO)
• Familiarity with Google and Microsoft security, compliance, and information-governance best practices
• Google and Microsoft certifications (e.g., Google Collaboration & Workspace Certifications, MS-700, PL-900/PL-100/PL-400, SC-400, MS-102) — optional
