We are seeking a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist for a long-term contract providing personal medical services to support the Department of Defense (DoD) at U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, its Associated Branch Health Clinics, and the U.S. Naval Dental Center Okinawa (3rd Dental Battalion) in Okinawa, Japan.
As a part of the Advancia Aeronautics Team, healthcare workers (HCW) will be supporting the Naval Logistics Command with medical services for active-duty military personnel, their dependents, eligible DoD civilian employees, and other eligible beneficiaries designated by the Government.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform a full range of MRI technologist functions and procedures.
Receive patients and explain procedures, providing humane and appropriate care and communication to alleviate fear of examination. Correctly position the patient for the examination and adjust necessary for the required examination. Determine if any special patient preparation is required.
Operate facility provided MRI scanners.
Receive and interpret requests or instructions for diagnostic MRI scans; perform daily warm up and assign quality control checks of the MRI scanner.
Perform a full range of Diagnostic MRI examinations including but not limited to:
Identify abnormalities during testing and determine need for additional scans of affected area.
Recognize anatomic variants and determine which other area(s) of the body should be scanned.
Use a detailed understanding of diseases of anatomy to accomplish effective MRI scanning.
Advise the Radiologist of results of the examination and provide them with a preliminary diagnosis.
Notify physicians of significant scans requiring immediate attention.
Maintain and clean MRI equipment on a regular basis in accordance with Radiology Department standards and protocols. Stock and maintain an adequate level of supplies required for all examinations. Recommend necessary monthly repairs when diagnostic quality is degraded.
Make minor adjustments to equipment. Differentiate from normal or pathological processes and recognize electronic equipment limitations. Program the examination equipment, set up the machine and scanning techniques to be employed.
Review new developments in the field by reading journals and attending meetings when possible and recommend supervising those changes which would improve the operation of the MRI section.
Recognize the need for and institute the necessary emergency measures for situations where a person requires resuscitation procedures due to cardiac or respiratory arrest.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
Possess and maintain current certification as a Radiographic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiographic Technologists (ARRT-R).
Possess and maintain current post primary certification as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (MRI) as determined by the American Registry of Radiographic Technologists (ARRT).
Possess one year's experience in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Provide two letters of recommendation written within the preceding two years from a manager, director, or direct supervisor attesting to the HCW's applicable clinical skills. Letters shall attest to the HCW's communication skills and ability to relate to patients as well as professional and other
interpersonal skills among staff members and must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing the recommendation.
Possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands
The HCW shall provide services Monday through Friday between the hours of 0400 and 2000. The HCW shall be assigned an 8-to-12-hour shift (to include an uncompensated .5 to 1 hour meal break depending on shift length). In no instance will the HCW be required to provide service more than 80 hours per 2-week period. The HCW may be required to work evening and/or weekend hours. The specific schedule for each HCW for each 2-week period will be scheduled 1 month in advance by the supervisor.
If the HCW has advanced certification in Computed Tomography or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), the HCW may be required to provide on call service.
Call-Back Services. While on call, the assigned HCW may be called into the MTF to provide services. If required to report to the MTF, the HCW shall arrive at the Radiology Department, prepared to provide services, within 45 minutes of the MTF's request. On-Call services will not be separately priced; costs for on-call shall be included in the hourly rate provided for on-site service. HCW shall be compensated for the actual time services are provided.
Estimated Call Back hours. No more than 3 hours a month.
Work is primarily performed indoors at a Military Treatment Facility; employees shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, have the physical ability to perform assigned tasks, able to lift twenty (20) pounds.
Must be a United States citizen, successfully pass an extensive government background investigation, and receive government client approval.
