Job Description

We have an immediate opening for a Tactical Systems Engineer to join our team. This position will provide an opportunity to develop the innovative technology that supports some of our nation’s most important defense initiatives. Kitty Hawk Technologies is currently seeking a Tactical Systems Technician with 4+ years of U.S. Navy tactical operations and maintenance experience in support of DoW engineering services to work in the Dahlgren, Virginia, area.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate, test, troubleshoot, configure, and maintain tactical, training, and simulation systems and associated laboratory equipment
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance to support system availability and operational readiness
- Prepare concise, accurate, and sufficiently detailed entries in tactical and laboratory logbooks
- Follow approved Standard Operating Procedures, technical documentation, configuration management processes, and applicable safety and security requirements
- Generate, update, track, and close work candidates, Trouble Reports, and configuration changes, ensuring all information is complete and accurate
- Install and test approved local change notices associated with the AEGIS Weapon System
- Configure simulation systems to the operational states required to support test events and objectives
- Determine and document the functional status of laboratory equipment, computer programs, and test systems
- Identify and report system issues and independently support troubleshooting, investigation, and problem resolution
- Perform system data recording, extraction, transfer, and archival activities as required
- Support laboratory scheduling, test-event coordination meetings, Test Readiness Reviews, and other operational planning activities
- Provide responsive technical support to laboratory users, engineers, and test personnel

Required Qualifications:

- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD clearance is necessary – U.S. Citizenship is required
- Four years of general U.S. Navy tactical operations and maintenance experience, including at least two years of operations and maintenance experience with training or simulation systems
- Experience with tactical, training, or simulation systems such as AEGIS, SSDS, AC2SN, ACTS, BFTT, WASP, MLST3, ASTATS, or NGS
- Experience supporting military test laboratories, combat systems, tactical systems, or comparable technical environments
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, computer programs, and interconnected test systems
- Working knowledge of tactical, training, and simulation system operations and maintenance
- Ability to test equipment, diagnose technical issues, and perform corrective and preventive maintenance
- Ability to interpret and follow technical procedures, system documentation, security requirements, and configuration management processes
- Ability to prepare accurate technical documentation, operational logs, work candidates, and Trouble Reports
- Ability to work assigned shifts based on mission and laboratory requirements

Desired Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering, Science, or Math field
- Knowledge of Naval Surface Warfare or Missile Defense Agency programs and architectures
- Knowledge and experience with tactical data links
- Active TS/SCI or active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
- Strong written and oral communication skills, the ability and willingness to multi-task, and capable of professionally addressing client questions and issues

- Some limited travel may be required to support this position
