Job Description

Summary

Chenega Naswik International is seeking a detail-oriented Personnel Security Specialist to support the NAVSEA Physical Security Program by administering and coordinating personnel security processes for government and contractor personnel. In this role, you will manage and facilitate security clearance actions, including the submission, tracking, and processing of Secret and Top Secret clearance eligibility packages through the Office of Electronic Application ( eAPP ). The Personnel Security Specialist will serve as a key liaison between employees, management, government security officials, and investigative agencies to ensure compliance with Department of Defense and Department of the Navy personnel security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Administer personnel security processes and coordinate security clearance actions for government and contractor personnel in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Navy, and NAVSEA requirements.
  • Initiate, process, and track background investigations and reinvestigations to support personnel security determinations and continued eligibility for access to classified information.
  • Review, validate , and process electronic personnel security questionnaires and clearance application packages, including SF-86, SF-85, and related documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage and coordinate security clearance submissions through the Electronic Application ( eAPP ) system and maintain accurate personnel security records throughout the investigative and adjudicative process.
  • Update, maintain , and reconcile personnel security data within the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) to ensure the integrity and accuracy of clearance and eligibility records.
  • Support SEA 00P4 by providing personnel security program administration, including clearance processing, eligibility determinations, visit authorization requests, access management, and maintenance of DISS repositories and personnel security records.
  • Capture, process, and submit fingerprints and other required documentation to support suitability reviews, background investigations, and security adjudications.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance required; ability to maintain clearance throughout employment.
  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate from an accredited institution required .
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting personnel security, security administration, clearance processing, investigations, records management, or related administrative functions in a government, military, or security environment.
  • Experience processing and managing personnel security actions, including background investigations, security clearances, suitability determinations, and access authorizations.
  • Working knowledge of personnel security systems and processes, including eAPP , DISS, Continuous Vetting/Continuous Evaluation, and background investigation procedures.
  • Experience handling sensitive, classified, and personally identifiable information (PII) in accordance with security requirements and privacy regulations.
  • Ability to successfully pass all required background screenings and maintain eligibility to access government systems and facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain detailed records, and meet established deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with government personnel, contractors, customers, and senior leadership.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research issues, evaluate information, and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other business software applications.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and utilize automated personnel security and records management systems.
  • Knowledge of personnel security policies, security clearance processes, background investigations, and applicable DoD and federal security regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive, proprietary, personally identifiable, and classified information.
