Make an Impact in Space Operations
Join Lockheed Martin's Next Gen Geo (NGG) OPIR Mission Operations Support (NMOS) team and play a critical role in operating the next generation of infrared space assets. As a Satellite Systems Crew Chief (SCCH), you'll help lead mission operations from launch through early on-orbit testing while working closely with mission customers and a highly skilled team of satellite and ground systems professionals.
After completing specialized training, you'll perform both Satellite Systems Operator (SSO) and Ground Control Operator (GCO) functions. You'll monitor spacecraft health and telemetry, execute satellite commands, evaluate alarms and anomalies, configure and monitor ground systems, and coordinate real-time activities to maintain mission continuity.
Beyond daily satellite operations, you'll have opportunities to lead teams, support satellite systems engineering, troubleshoot complex operational challenges, and deliver mission-critical changeover briefings. This is an opportunity to build deep expertise in space vehicle operations while contributing directly to the success of a high-priority national security mission.

Conducts mission/program specific real time spacecraft/satellite flight operations during readiness, execution and evaluation phases. Develops detailed plans and procedures to provide maximum mission support in areas such as orbit dynamics, satellite performance analysis, command and control of on-orbit satellites. Provides technical direction for on orbit mission support, plans for critical vehicle malfunctions and recommends alternate operating techniques to continue maximum mission support. Provides failure analysis of the performance of the orbiting satellites via telemetry data. Utilizes system software to accomplish all spacecraft control tasks and recommends improvements. Analyzes and validates software performance. Performs flight length orbit adjust and daily special event studies.
Basic Qualifications
• Previous satellite on-console support
• Must be willing and able to work rotational shift work
• Active or Current TS/SCI clearance; thus US Citizenship required

- Previous SBIRS/NGG experience with Satellite Ground System and TT&C
- Previous experience with Launch and Early Orbit Testing
- Well-organized, self-starter able to take direction and works well both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to work with limited supervision while leading teams to include collaborating across the NGG environment
- Ability to navigate multiple competing priorities
- Ability to make recommendations on operational and engineering improvements
- Experience leading technical teams

- Previous operational certification is considered a plus
