Support planning and execution of ship alterations and modernization efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
RWS Integration & Installation
- Support mechanical and electrical integration of Remote Weapon Systems (e.g., MK 93, MK 97 and associated mounts, control units, and interfaces) on surface ships and other platforms.
- Interpret and execute drawings, schematics, work packages, and technical directives for system installation and modification.
- Assist in developing and refining shipboard integration solutions, including mounting arrangements, cable routing, and power/grounding schemes.
- Conduct onboard surveys to assess existing configurations and determine installation constraints, interfaces, and material requirements.
Ship Alterations & Modernization
- Support planning and execution of ship alterations (SHIPALTs), modernization efforts, and configuration changes associated with RWS and related systems.
- Coordinate with shipyards, ISEAs, government representatives, and JXNL project teams to schedule and perform installation, checkout, and acceptance activities.
- Document "as found" and "as built" conditions, including updates to drawings, cable run sheets, and configuration management records.
Mechanical & Electrical Support
- Perform advanced mechanical work including mounting hardware installation, structural attachments, alignment, and fit checks consistent with shipboard standards.
- Perform advanced electrical work including cable fabrication, terminations, connectorization, power distribution, bonding/grounding, and continuity/insulation resistance testing.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate tools, test equipment, and diagnostic procedures; recommend corrective actions and implement repairs.
Software & Configuration
- Support software uploads, upgrades, and configuration changes for RWS and associated control systems in accordance with approved procedures.
- Perform pre and post load verification, basic functional checks, and documentation of software baselines and changes.
- Work with systems engineers and software engineers to identify software related issues discovered during installation, integration, or shipboard testing.
Test, Checkout & Verification
- Assist in system bring up, alignment, operational verification, and acceptance testing of RWS and supporting subsystems.
- Execute test procedures, record test data, and support troubleshooting of deficiencies identified during Harbor Acceptance Tests (HAT), Shipboard Qualification Trials (SQT), or similar events.
- Provide input to test reports, discrepancy reports, and recommended corrective actions.
Technical Documentation & Coordination
- Provide feedback on technical manuals, installation procedures, and engineering documentation to improve clarity, safety, and efficiency.
- Prepare and maintain detailed technical records, logbooks, discrepancy reports, and configuration control documentation.
- Coordinate daily activities with SAIC leadership, government PMs, and engineering teams to ensure alignment with schedule, scope, and technical requirements.
Field Support & Training
- Provide onboard technical assistance to ship's force and government representatives during installation, testing, and post installation support periods.
- Support informal hands-on familiarization/training for fleet personnel on system operation, basic troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance, as requested.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Technical Experience:
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Remote Weapon Systems, specifically:
- MK 93 Machine Gun Mount system(s)
- MK 97 and associated RWS/control component
Travel & Environment:
- Willing and able to travel to CONUS locations and work onboard ships (pierside and at sea) as required
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting U.S. Navy RWS programs, fleet introduction, or waterfront modernization efforts.
- Familiarity with NAVSEA standards, shipboard installation practices, and applicable military/NAVSEA drawings and specifications.
- Experience with Configuration Management (CM) tools, drawing revisions, and as-built documentation.
- Experience coordinating with government engineers, Program Offices, In-Service Engineering Activities (ISEAs), and fleet stakeholders.
- OSHA_10/30, shipyard safety, or other relevant industrial safety training.
